About Us

Do you want to help develop Gothenburg's current and future schools? The Primary School Administration of Gothenburg City is now recruiting an Economic Controller with a focus on accounting. As an Economic Controller, you will work with our economic unit, which consists of approximately 30 employees.

Gothenburg's Primary School Administration is one of the largest school administrations in Sweden. We are responsible for the city's municipal schools from preschool class to year 9, adapted primary school, the school of music and arts, and after-school centers. The administration includes just over 140 municipal primary schools where nearly 47,000 students attend school every day. The entire administration has approximately 9,700 employees who work together to develop and manage the operations – together we are paving the way for the school of the future.

The Primary School Administration is undergoing a change process as the number of students is decreasing. This requires us to develop our work processes. Therefore, we are looking for you who meet this challenge with innovation and flexibility, and who thrive in a solution-oriented role where you get to shape the future.

About the Role

As an Economic Controller with a focus on accounting, you are responsible for ensuring quality and structure in the administration's economic work. You work both operationally and strategically in close collaboration with other Economic Controllers, primarily within accounting. In your daily work, you handle both routine tasks and more complex economic issues, and you are involved in ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with current laws and regulations.

Your main tasks are to develop and ensure the quality of accounting processes, routines, and follow-ups, while also serving as a qualified support for the operations. You drive and actively participate in development and improvement projects within economics and administration. The role also places a strong emphasis on data-driven work, meaning you handle, structure, and analyze large amounts of complex data using Excel, AI, and other digital tools to streamline and develop future economic work.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Economics, minimum 180 higher education credits.
  • Previous experience in qualified economic work within accounting.

Merits

  • Experience in procurement and tendering work, such as contract follow-up, preferably linked to the Public Procurement Act (LOU).

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is analytical and has a natural ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions, even from complex information. You take great ownership of your tasks, are confident in your independent work, and have the drive required to move processes forward with high quality.

Good collaboration skills are central to you. You build relationships with both employees and managers, understand the common mission, and contribute to the whole. Additionally, you are a pedagogical communicator who can explain information to different recipients and from different perspectives. With your contagious engagement and positive attitude, you contribute both energy and joy in the workplace to the group.

Interviews will be held in week 32.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Other

As an employee in our administration, you are offered among other things a wellness allowance, bike benefit, and employee support.

According to the Education Act, extracts from the police criminal record must be presented by individuals before they are employed in preschool activities, schools, and school-age childcare. You can order this on the Police website.

In connection with this recruitment, we have decided on recruitment channels and therefore decline further offers of competence mediation, advertising, and recruitment assistance.

We only accept applications via our recruitment system in accordance with GDPR.
