About the Operations

Sjuntorp School is a rural F-9 school (grades 1-9) with approximately 500 students, where proximity to nature is a natural part of the students' learning environment. In grades 4-9, there are just over 330 students.

At our school, the student is always in focus, both regarding knowledge development and social development. The entire school is a collaborative team where we take responsibility for ensuring that everyone succeeds – both students and staff. Through cooperation, shared responsibility, and a solution-focused approach, we build a school where we grow together.

Responsibilities

We are looking for you who have the ability to see students' different needs, take their individual prerequisites into account, and enjoy challenges. You want to be involved in the work of helping students grow and develop. You have experience working with clarifying pedagogy (tydliggörande pedagogik) and low-affective handling (low-arousal approach). In your role as a student support worker, you are a good role model for our students, and it is important that you have the ability to build good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You are professional in your interactions and possess great curiosity, lack of pretension, and patience to find ways forward so that the student succeeds as often as possible. At our school, we work in teams, so the idea is that you will have close colleagues to evaluate and analyze methods in the work with the student.

Qualifications

For this position, we require either upper secondary education (e.g., Child and Youth Programme), education as a student assistant, special needs teacher, or youth leader, combined with experience working as a student support worker. It is meritorious if you have knowledge of various functional variations and an understanding of how functional ability and the environment interact, i.e., what functional variations can mean for a person in relation to their surroundings. You also need to be familiar with how the environment needs to be adapted to minimize difficulties and increase functional ability.

An important parameter is that you have knowledge of low-affective handling and clarifying pedagogy in both theory and practice. We expect you to have a sense of mission where the goal is always for every student to reach as far as possible in their learning.

It is meritorious if you can provide good references from previous work with children/students that show you can put your knowledge into practice. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You will work in a team and have good support from other educators. Part of your duties will be at the after-school center (fritidshem).
