Friskolan Metis in Skara is looking for an engaged and inspiring teacher in Home Economics and Consumer Studies who wants to help develop teaching in a school where innovation, commitment, and a focus on the student are at the center.

We are a small school unit with just over 200 students from preschool class to grade 9, where we work to create a safe and inspiring learning environment. Here, every student is seen, every teacher is significant, and every day is an opportunity to develop – both for students and staff.

About the position

As a teacher in Home Economics and Consumer Studies, you will teach students in grades 7–9. The scope of the position can be adapted based on your qualifications and the opportunity to combine the role with other tasks or subjects.

Home Economics and Consumer Studies is a subject of great importance for the students' future. Through teaching, students develop knowledge and skills that help them make informed decisions regarding food, health, personal finance, sustainable consumption, and daily life.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Inspire students to develop practical skills and a responsible approach to everyday challenges.
  • Plan and conduct teaching in areas such as cooking, nutrition, personal finance, consumer studies, and sustainable development.
  • Create a safe and structured learning environment where students can try, collaborate, and develop through practical work.
  • Collaborate with dedicated colleagues to develop the school's pedagogical activities.
  • Contribute to giving students knowledge that strengthens their independence and ability to make informed choices throughout life.
  • Be a clear leader and a responsive educator who sees every student and their individual needs.

You work closely with your work team to plan, conduct, evaluate, and develop teaching in accordance with regulatory documents and the school's vision. The role requires structure, creativity, and flexibility to meet the students' different prerequisites and create teaching where everyone can succeed.

  • Is a qualified teacher in Home Economics and Consumer Studies.
  • Is passionate about student learning and development and has strong pedagogical skills.
  • Has good leadership qualities and can create a safe, inspiring, and structured learning environment.
  • Is a team player who values collaboration with colleagues and is unpretentious in your professional role.
  • Is relationship-building and has the ability to build positive and sustainable relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.
  • Has an interest in issues concerning health, sustainability, personal finance, and consumption, and can make the subject relevant and engaging for students.
  • Wants to develop within your profession and contribute to the school's continued pedagogical development.

Employment terms

Extent: Part-time 25% (with possibility of expanded position depending on competence and organization)

Start date: August 3, 2026
