At Lotsen Barn and Young People in Mariestad, we are expanding and adding several positions within our assessment and placement teams!
This presents a unique opportunity for you to step into a vital and meaningful role where you can positively impact the lives of children facing extra challenges every day. You will have a varied, challenging, and highly rewarding assignment where you use both heart and mind to create safe environments for those we serve.
Do you also want to work as a social secretary in an organization that promotes development, employee well-being, and a positive work environment? Then you are welcome to join us!
4 positions available.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for social secretaries for our two groups: Assessment and Placement.
If you are interested in the assessment group, which takes over after the reception team has made a preliminary assessment, your work will include:
- Assessing children's needs and parents' capabilities.
- Follow-up of support decisions.
- Collaboration with schools, police, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), and other actors surrounding the child.
- Tailoring solutions for families.
In our placement group, which takes over after an assessment is completed, you represent the child's interests and needs, ensure the child has meaningful contact with their parents, and that the child is involved in their own care. You work towards reunification, parental involvement in care, and ensuring they receive the right support. This involves:
- Monitoring care for placed children and young people based on their individual needs and rights.
- Evaluating and reviewing care, creating contact plans, and conducting contact assessments.
- Close collaboration with family home secretaries and cooperation with schools, police, BUP, and other actors surrounding the child.
If you thrive on short-term contacts, meeting deadlines, and quickly adapting to changes, the assessment group might be the right workplace for you. If you prefer longer-term cases where you follow clients over time, the placement group is recommended. With strong team cohesion and professional development, we lay the foundation for good work – We make a difference for the children!
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker and hold a B-category driver's license. Previous work experience from social services and authority handling regarding children and young people is meritorious.
You need to be skilled at creating safety and work alliances with those you meet, so families feel comfortable being honest, and you need to develop a secure way of communicating difficult assessments and decisions.
This is a role that gives back a lot but can also be demanding at times. You need to have an internal acceptance that you cannot always do everything and trust that small steps will pay off in the long run. You also need to be able to care for your own well-being and set boundaries for your engagement to stay and be present for the children and young people over time.
What can we offer you?
For us, you as an employee are our most important resource, and we care about you having a good balance between work and leisure. Therefore, we have introduced four trust days per year, which can be taken as full or half days for recovery purposes. We also offer a wellness allowance, flexible working hours, and the possibility of holiday exchange.
At work, the fruit basket is always stocked, and we have a common Friday breakfast. Occasionally, we organize lunch training to increase health and cohesion. We have allocated time for documentation on Wednesdays and method sessions every week with themes based on what the work group requests.
As support in the work, there are senior social secretaries, unit managers, and social administrators on site. We are also a work group that supports each other, laughs a lot, and helps out when days become unpredictable. It is natural here to ask the colleague next to you before going home if you have any questions.
In addition to the method sessions, every employee has the opportunity for continuous competence development through "Yrkesresan" and other training based on the needs of both the organization and the employee.
We actively strive for an equal, equitable, and inclusive way of working, and the organization has been HBTQI+-certified by Samkrafter since 2023.
About the Application

We plan to start interviews during week 33. Probationary employment may be applied. Warmly welcome to us at Lotsen!
