Do you want to make a difference in people's daily lives?
The Smedjan unit in Vara town is the collective name for two residences with special support services (BMSS): Smedjan and Brinkestigen. These two locations are geographically close to each other and collaborate in daily life with joint activities, among other things. Also included under these BMSS units is Functional Support (Funktionsstöd), which provides housing support in ordinary housing for individuals within the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and SOL (Social Services Act) areas. Here, staff work in ordinary housing throughout Vara Municipality.
We are now looking for new colleagues who wish to help develop our operations to meet an increased need for support and services. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to people living independent and meaningful lives based on their own prerequisites.
Your role
As a Support Assistant (Stödassistent), you work to make a difference in the daily lives of the individuals we help and support. You work in a motivating and strengthening manner, following implementation plans where users and staff jointly document how support and assistance should be provided.
You provide support around the clock. This includes support in care situations, assistance with household chores, accompanying users to various activities, and help with contacts with authorities and other healthcare providers. A large part of the job involves supporting and helping to break isolation and actively participating in community life.
There are periods during the day when you will work alone.
Your knowledge and experience
We are looking for you who have experience working with our target group and social documentation. You must have a manual B-driver's license, access to BankID, and be comfortable using digital tools in your daily life.
You have education in the field, for example, Support Assistant training, Child and Youth Program, Leisure Leader line, Care Program, or other education/skills/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Additional merit if you have Support Pedagogy training.
As a person, you are sensitive and flexible in your approach. You have a good ability to motivate others, and great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
You must be able to present an extract from the police criminal record. Type of extract: Extract for work in the home with elderly and persons with disabilities.
You also need to be able to present a passport / valid ID card. The driver's license can be presented together with a personal certificate obtained from skatteverket.se using Bank-ID; we can do this during a scheduled interview.
Your future workplace
At our unit, there are approximately 20 employees distributed into three smaller work teams to try to minimize the number of staff around our users, thereby creating security and predictability.
We plan and implement support and help flexibly based on the users' needs and opportunities. We make each other better in daily life through collegial support and collaboration where we coach each other in the challenges that arise. We take advantage of each other's strengths and see differences as enriching.
We develop our working methods through structured competence supply in the field of disability, through pedagogical meetings, "Yrkesresan" (The Career Journey), and other targeted training. We adapt our way of working by organizing ourselves in the most optimal way for the needs of our users.
Within the unit, we are also responsible for "Mötespunkten" (Meeting Point), a meeting place staffed by employees from this work group.
