A one-year-old boy is soon to return home to his family. Over the past few months, he has been hospitalized, and his return is now being prepared together with the assistants who will become part of his and his family's daily life.

He is the family's first child. The parents have a background in culture and creative arts, including music, and the home is characterized by warmth, curiosity, and calm. The family currently lives in Majorna, Gothenburg, and is moving early this autumn to a larger apartment on Hisingen, where the assistants will have their own room.

Here, you will become part of a newly formed assistant group that is building routines and collaboration from the ground up. This requires you to be unpretentious, reliable, and communicative, and to contribute to a secure and calm working environment.

About the assignment The assignment is medically complex and requires 24-hour supervision. The boy has a tracheostomy due to breathing difficulties since birth, and the work involves more than just monitoring his breathing. Your main tasks include caring for the tracheostomy and managing the tracheal cannula, performing suctioning, and attentively monitoring his breathing and general well-being. These are specialized tasks requiring focus and sustained attention throughout the shift.

You will always work as two assistants together. This involves active supervision where you share waking responsibilities, ensuring you are never alone during the night. In addition to the medical procedures, the role includes supporting daily care and contributing to a safe and pleasant life for him. The work takes place primarily in the home, with opportunities for outings together with the family.

You will receive a full introduction and ongoing training throughout the assignment. Previous medical experience is not required — we train the right person, placing greater emphasis on personal suitability than on professional background.

Who are you as an applicant? For this family, personal chemistry and a sense of the home environment are crucial — more important than your professional background. We are looking for someone who wants to work with children and has a genuine warmth towards them. Perhaps you have experience with younger siblings or your own children; the most important thing is that you enjoy getting to know a small child and witnessing his growth.

The home is centrally located in Gothenburg with good public transport connections.

About the employment We are primarily looking for someone who can work nights so that the boy can come home. The staffing is arranged so that one assistant works during the day on weekdays together with a parent, while the nights are staffed by two assistants together. Weekday afternoons/evenings are partly covered by family and friends, but also to some extent by external assistants. Working hours are 08:00–15:00, 15:00–22:00, and 22:00–08:00, varying according to the schedule.

Training starts in mid-August, and the boy will come home subsequently as the group becomes fully staffed. You will thus start with introductory shifts and training together with specialized care staff before the boy comes home, ensuring you feel secure in your role from the start.
