We are now looking for an engaged teacher for a temporary position at the middle school level (grades 4-6).

Tösse School is a K-6 school with approximately 120 students, located about 10 km from the town center of Åmål. The school operates in newly renovated and partially new buildings that provide excellent conditions for pedagogical activities. The schoolyard is large and invites play and creativity with nature close at hand. As staff at Tösse School, you will be part of an engaged team working together for the best interests of the students. The team also includes student health services with a special education teacher, counselor, and school nurse.

We are currently looking for a substitute teacher for one of our middle school teachers who is on parental leave.

Your role

Here, you will become part of a work team where collaboration, relationships, and student development are at the center. We work together to create a learning environment where students feel safe, motivated, and seen.

At the middle school level, we work in a subject-teacher system, and we support each other in the work team regarding planning, teaching, and monitoring student development. In this position, you will teach some of the middle school subjects based on your qualifications and the school's needs. Therefore, we are interested in teachers with various subject combinations and welcome applicants with broad competence and interest in middle school education.

We see collaboration with guardians as an important part of the student's development and learning. Therefore, we value that you have open, professional, and trust-based communication with the students' homes. Mentoring a group of students is included in the position.

We are looking for you who want to contribute with engagement, structure, and good relationships in the classroom. You create a clear and safe learning environment where students have the opportunity to develop based on their prerequisites. You adapt the teaching to the students' needs and work to ensure that everyone succeeds and feels motivated in their learning.

As a person, you are flexible, solution-focused, and enjoy collaborating with colleagues, student health services, and guardians. You are a secure adult and a positive role model for the students.

We welcome you who have teacher certification for the middle school level, but also you who have certification for grades K-3 and an interest in working with students in the older grades.

In Åmål Municipality, we work long-term with language and knowledge-developing approaches, something that permeates our competence development and teaching. We would like you to be curious about and want to develop within this area together with us.

Formal competency requirements

• Qualified teacher for grades 4-6 in Math, Science, Technology, and English with teacher certification
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
• The employment assumes that you have a Category B driver's license
• Digital identification with BankID

Experience from working as a teacher is meritorious.

The employment

Temporary position at 100% with start date 2026-08-12. The temporary position extends until June 2027 with a possible option for extension.

The position as a teacher at the middle school level is currently located at Tösse School within the Culture and Education Administration, which is organized directly under the Culture and Education Committee. The nearest manager is Principal Lena Andrén-Persson.

The positions will be filled subject to necessary decisions being made.
