Interim Unit Manager – Outdoor Environment – Gävle
Scope: Full-time (100%)
Assignment Period: 2026-08-03 – 2026-12-31
Location: Gävle
About the Assignment
We are looking for an experienced and engaged interim unit manager for a department responsible for outdoor environments, ground maintenance, and external maintenance. The assignment involves leading, coordinating, and developing daily operational activities to ensure high quality, efficiency, and goal achievement.
As the unit manager, you are responsible for translating the department's goals into concrete activities and ensuring that the unit delivers according to its mandate. You drive improvement work, develop working methods and routines, and contribute to a culture characterized by collaboration, engagement, and customer focus.
You work closely with other unit managers and department heads to create cohesion, coordination, and long-term development within the operations.
Scope: Approximately 800 hours during the assignment period.
The work is performed on-site at the department's premises in Gävle.
Responsibilities
Result and Budget Responsibility
- Responsible for the unit's economy and budget.
- Ensure that costs and revenues are balanced in line with the department's goals.
- Monitor economic results and implement necessary measures.
Personnel Responsibility
- Lead, coordinate, and develop employees based on operational needs.
- Conduct employee and salary interviews.
- Responsible for work environment efforts according to current guidelines.
- Handle salary setting and personnel issues.
- Represent the employer according to laws, agreements, and steering documents within the HR area.
Operational Responsibility
- Be an expert in outdoor environments, ground maintenance, and external maintenance.
- Plan, execute, and follow up on work within the operational area.
- Ensure high quality and cost-effectiveness in delivered services.
- Develop and streamline working methods, processes, and routines.
- Ensure that the operations comply with quality and environmental requirements.
- Provide input for operational planning and decision-making.
- Follow developments in outdoor environments, sustainability issues, and relevant legislation.
Qualifications
Requirements
- At least a 3-year academic degree (180 ECTS) as a land engineer or equivalent relevant education.
- Documented experience in personnel responsibility and leadership roles.
- Broad theoretical and practical knowledge in land, outdoor environments, and external administration.
- Very good analytical skills and experience in translating analyses into decisions and operational development.
- Good IT skills and familiarity with administrative tasks.
- Valid driver's license (Category B).
Merits
- Several years of experience leading operations in outdoor environments, park and land administration, or similar areas.
- Experience with budgeting, result analysis, and quality work.
- Experience from municipal or public sector operations.
