Project Manager/Coordinator for Locally Led Rural Development (Fixed-Term)
UPPLANDSBYGD LOKALT LEDD UTVECKLINGUppsala län, Uppsala
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to work closely with associations, businesses, municipalities, and local initiatives that wish to develop their rural areas and contribute to more robust, vibrant, and sustainable local communities?
Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling is now seeking a full-time substitute for the period of August 10, 2026, to June 30, 2027, as one of our project managers will be on leave.
About Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling
Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling is a non-profit organization where voluntary, public, and private forces join forces to develop the countryside in the municipalities of Knivsta, Sigtuna, Uppsala, Vallentuna, and Östhammar. This is achieved through locally led development using the Leader method, funded by the EU and the relevant municipalities, with sustainable development as our guiding star.
The organization's office is located in Storvreta, just north of Uppsala, centrally situated within the operational area with good transport connections. The office consists of a small team where we collaborate closely and support each other to achieve the organization's goals.
What will be my responsibilities?
As a project manager/coordinator at Upplandsbygd, you will primarily work with driving and coordinating projects, while also contributing to the processing of project support within locally led development.
Development Initiatives and Collaboration
A main part of the role involves initiating, driving, and coordinating projects, particularly those related to local food and shorter food supply chains. In this role, you will build networks and strengthen collaboration between producers, processors, buyers, municipalities, associations, and other local actors. The work also covers issues regarding distribution solutions for the purchase of small-scale and local food.
An important part of the job is to make complex issues understandable, create structure in collaboration processes, and turn ideas into concrete development.
Advisory and Case Processing
Another part of the role involves providing information and advice to individuals, associations, businesses, and other actors who wish to apply for project support within locally led development. You will support project ideas from the early stages through to application, process project applications, and follow up on approved projects. This includes, among other things, assessing project ideas based on the organization's strategy and the Swedish Board of Agriculture's regulations, contacting project owners, preparing cases, and contributing to ensuring projects have good conditions for implementation.
General Office Work
Since Upplandsbygd is a small organization, you will also become an important part of the office's joint work. This means that you may, when needed, support other parts of the operations, participate in communication, events, follow-up, reporting, and other ongoing tasks.
What We Offer
A meaningful and varied assignment in a small organization with a strong commitment to local development. You will work closely with people, ideas, and concrete development processes in the rural areas of Uppland and northern Stockholm.
The role offers good opportunities to influence, build networks, and contribute to practical development within local food, sustainable business, and collaboration.
To thrive and develop in this role, we would like you to
- Be driven by sustainable local development and want to work closely with people, places, and local initiatives.
- Be structured, receptive, and service-oriented.
- Have an easy time building trust and relationships with different types of actors.
- Enjoy working both independently and together with others.
- Have the ability to keep processes, meetings, project ideas, and administrative tasks together.
- Be interested in issues such as local food, sustainable business, preparedness, civil society, and rural development.
- Have experience in project management, case processing, association life, the public sector, business development, or similar.
- Hold a university degree in rural development, environmental communication, sustainable development, or equivalent.
- Be able to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
- Have a valid driver's license (Category B).
It is meritorious if you have experience with locally led development, Leader, project support, EU-funded projects, municipal collaboration, food issues, or sustainable societal development.
