RESPONSIBILITIES

Students should be given the opportunity to develop and consolidate subject knowledge based on their linguistic prerequisites. Therefore, we are now seeking a mother tongue teacher in Mandarin for the primary schools of Gävle Municipality. The work is carried out in collaboration with other educators, student health services, and guardians.

As a mother tongue teacher in Mandarin, your responsibilities include:

• teaching the language
• teaching students about the culture and traditions of the countries where the language is spoken

The teaching follows a curriculum with a comparative purpose, which also requires good proficiency in Swedish.

For students who struggle to meet the knowledge requirements or keep up with other subjects, you as a mother tongue teacher can provide support through study guidance. This involves highlighting or deepening students' knowledge in areas where Swedish concepts need to be clarified and discussed in their mother tongue.

The employment extent is 20%.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform the duties, you must:

• be fluent in Mandarin in both speech and writing
• be fluent in Swedish in both speech and writing
• be able to work based on the organization's goals and follow planning

It is important that you:

• feel confident standing and speaking, reading, or writing in front of a larger group of children or youth
• have a relationship-building approach
• can create an open dialogue
• adapt your actions based on the situation
• have a non-hierarchical approach in your collaboration with others
