About the FM UAS Centre Unit
Since June 2025, the FM UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) Centre has been a reorganized unit based in Karlsborg. The Centre is tasked, among other things, with overseeing environmental monitoring, leading the development of new UAS capabilities, and providing training in the field.
The FM UAS Centre consists of four different departments: Education, Development, Exercise/Training, and Technical Service. The Education Department is responsible for planning and conducting courses within each respective RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System). The Development Department tests and verifies future RPAS for the Swedish Armed Forces' needs. Exercise/Training is responsible for and participates in central exercise planning related to RPAS. Technical Service supports each department with maintenance and technical support.
Main Duties
The Education Department consists of three sections responsible for tactical, combat-technical, FPV (First Person View), and smaller RPAS. The sections are responsible for developing educational materials and conducting courses for the entire Swedish Armed Forces. The department also supports the Development Department in testing and verifying new systems.
As a Specialist Officer in the Education Department, your task will partly involve skill training on the systems that each section is responsible for, with the aim of building and maintaining a high level of system understanding. During course activities, you will be part of an instructor team where you will lead and support theoretical lectures as well as practical flight exercises. There are good opportunities for development and taking on more responsibility within the department in various roles and positions such as course leader, section chief, participating in projects with the Development Department, and in exercise planning.
Vacant positions: Flight Instructor SRPAS Section (responsible for combat-technical systems) and Flight Instructor MRPAS Section (responsible for smaller RPAS and FPV).
