About the Role

At our adapted school, students have intellectual disabilities, often in combination with other disabilities such as ADHD/autism, visual impairment, hearing impairment, or physical mobility limitations. We combine an important pedagogical mission with care needs. Our daily routine is built on the understanding that structure and clear routines are cornerstones for our students' sense of security. In the classroom, there is often one teacher and several student assistants supporting the students and each other.

As a special education teacher, you will be part of a work team working with students in need of adjustments and special support. The number of students and grade levels vary based on current needs.

You will work to create an inclusive and safe learning environment where students are given the conditions to develop as much as possible. Whenever possible, and based on individual needs, students will participate in teaching in regular classes, which is done in close collaboration with teaching teachers and other colleagues.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Plan, implement, and adapt teaching based on students' individual needs.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and developmental learning environment.
• Strengthen students' independence, participation, and confidence in their own abilities.
• Collaborate with teachers and other colleagues to give students the best possible conditions for development.

As a special education teacher, you also serve as a support for colleagues through guidance and collaboration. You actively participate in the development of teaching and operations, conduct assessments together with other staff, and collaborate with guardians and external agencies. In this role, you also contribute to the school's continued development work and collegial learning.

You collaborate with the after-school center to enable the student's entire learning process throughout the day.

Support students in practical challenges during the day, such as personal hygiene and meals. You conduct modern and creative teaching and find strategies to reach every student and strengthen them in both knowledge development and personal growth.

Requirements
We are looking for you who are trained as a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities and who have experience working in adapted primary schools.

You are confident in your professional role and have an inclusive and solution-focused approach. You see opportunities rather than obstacles and have the ability to adapt teaching, support, and interaction based on each student's needs. You combine independence with good teamwork skills and actively contribute to a positive and developmental work climate.
