International English School (IES) is a leading independent school group ("friskola") with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English, with English being the language of the corridors. IES is one of Sweden's largest school groups at the primary level, with 43 schools and around 30,000 students across the country. IES has grown steadily and maintained quality since 1993. IES Eskilstuna is one of Sweden's largest schools with 1,185 students enrolled in grades F-9 and approximately 125 staff members.
IES Eskilstuna is looking for two dedicated student assistants with experience in diabetes care, on a full-time basis, who are passionate about working with students and want to contribute to providing them with world-class schooling.
We are looking for someone who is brave, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships among the students.
About the Position
We are seeking a secure and responsible student assistant for a student with diabetes in grades F-3. The role involves being a close support for the student during the school day, focusing on ensuring a safe and functional daily routine both in the classroom and during breaks.
Responsibilities
- Support the student in daily schoolwork and adapt activities as needed
- Monitor and assist in managing the student's blood sugar levels according to the doctor's guidelines
- Remind and support the student with insulin administration and carbohydrate intake
- Closely collaborate with school staff and guardians to ensure the student's well-being
- Be a secure adult who creates a positive and inclusive school environment
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, preferably in school or care settings
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to manage Type 1 diabetes
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in consultation with school staff and guardians
- Secure, calm, and pedagogical in your interaction with children
Merits
- Previous experience working with children with medical needs
- Educational background in healthcare, pedagogy, or a similar field
