WE WANT SWEDEN'S HAPPIEST RESIDENTS. ARE YOU WITH US?

In Flens Municipality, we are committed to building something long-term. A society where people thrive, grow, and stay. Our new and bold vision, Flen – Sweden's Happiest Municipality, is more than just words. It is a direction we have chosen together and a reminder of who we are here for. In every meeting with a resident, in every decision we make, in every day we shape – we should think with our hearts. And it starts with us. We are now looking for teachers for the adapted primary school, grades 1-9.

The adapted primary school in Flen has recently moved to new premises and is nicely situated by the lake. The environment around the school offers great opportunities for teaching in surrounding areas. Currently, we have 26 students from grades 1-9. The unit also has a smaller group of students who belong to the regular primary school but have significant needs for the adapted learning environments that the adapted primary school offers. There are two lead teachers at the unit. One with a focus on preventive and promoting work, and one with a focus on mathematics.

HERE ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for challenging students to learn based on their individual prerequisites. You will teach students in subjects and subject areas. This position means that, together with a colleague, you will become a mentor for a group of students in grades 2-6. You will plan, conduct, and follow up on teaching in close collaboration with student counselors. You will contribute to and participate in the school's development work and supervise student counselors based on your competence.

As a mentor, you will conduct development meetings and participate in network meetings regarding the student.

You will be part of a work team that works together around the students. The role also requires you to collaborate with guardians, habilitation services, and in some cases, other authorities.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Valid teacher certification for primary school
  • Documented experience working with students with significant needs for adapted learning environments.

WE VALUE THE FOLLOWING HIGHLY

  • Education as a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disability
  • Knowledge of the curriculum for adapted primary school
  • Education in physical education/sports

YOUR PERSONAL QUALITIES

As a person, you are secure and stable, while maintaining a driving and motivating approach towards your students. You have a positive view of students, believing that all students can and want to learn. You find it easy to collaborate and build relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You keep the student at the center and take into account the students' different needs and prerequisites.

You should have experience working with students with disabilities and see opportunities for learning in all moments, whether it is a group teaching situation or a transition from one aid to another.

We would appreciate if you have competence in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and experience with a low-affective approach.

The role requires good ability to communicate and collaborate with many different actors within and outside the organization; therefore, good Swedish language skills are a requirement for the position.

WHY WORK WITH US?

In Flens Municipality, we want to give you good conditions to thrive both at and outside work. We offer, among other things, holiday swapping, wellness benefits, and reimbursement for patient fees up to the high-cost protection cap – and there are more benefits than that. Many of our workplaces also have good commuting options. The Town Hall in Flen is just a stone's throw from the train and bus station.

The adapted primary school consists of a work team where you will receive support and collegial conversations that drive you and the operations forward. You will work with a group of 9 students. There will be two mentors and 3 student counselors (one of whom is not full-time).

READY TO APPLY?

  • Full-time, permanent.
  • We apply probationary employment in some cases.
  • Start date as agreed, but as soon as possible.
  • Individual salary setting.
  • (Salary range: According to law from June 2026).

If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must instead show that you have a valid work permit – or that you are exempt from the work permit requirement.

Employment can only take place after we have checked the work permit, in accordance with the Aliens Ordinance.

  • As a candidate, you are responsible for clearly documenting your competence so that we can make an objective and fair assessment of your application.
