The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences, with approximately 100 employees from around ten countries. Annually, around 1,000 students participate in one of our courses at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Researchers at the department are often consulted as experts in public inquiries and in the media, and collaborate with the surrounding society in many ways.
Do you have experience in educational administration and thrive in a role with many contact points? Then we may be looking for you.
Here, you will become part of a dedicated administrative unit consisting of eight employees with various specialist areas and an administrative manager. In your role as Course Administrator, you will work broadly within undergraduate education and other administrative tasks – a varied job where you will continuously learn new things.
Responsibilities
You work closely with the department's teachers and have frequent contact with students from various programs and courses. A large part of the work is performed in administrative systems.
The work involves independently handling educational administrative matters such as: course and program administration, registration, result reporting, working with course offerings in various databases, study follow-up, handling course materials, exam administration, information and administrative service to students, teachers, and other staff. In addition to course administration, other department-wide tasks not directly linked to the Course Administrator position may also be included in the responsibilities.
The administrative systems you will work with are primarily Ladok, Studium (Canvas), NyA, TimeEdit, DiVA, and to some extent Sitevision, as well as the university's general main diary W3D3.
As a Course Administrator, you are expected to continuously develop your skills within your field of work. You should be able to familiarize yourself with different issues and contribute to creating routines and finding solutions that facilitate and develop our operations.
Qualifications
- University education in a relevant field or equivalent experience assessed by the employer as comparable
- Current and documented work experience in administrative work, preferably from a public authority
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
- Very good computer skills
Since contact with teachers and students is central to the work, great importance is placed on willingness to serve, responsibility, and good teamwork skills. You are self-reliant and proactive, meaning you can identify needs, adapt to changed circumstances, and see opportunities and solutions. The workload varies throughout the year, which requires you to work in a structured manner and prioritize your tasks. You have the ability to handle work peaks by planning and organizing work efficiently, while also being able to take responsibility for and drive your work during calmer periods. As a person, you are outgoing and have an easy time communicating.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
Merits
- Experience of working at a university or college
- Experience of educational administration
- Experience of student contact in both Swedish and English
- Good knowledge of relevant IT systems, e.g., Ladok, Studium (Canvas), and NyA
