Orust – The green and safe island where thoughts are free and dreams come to life. We invest in development, welfare, and our employees. We are proud that our latest employee survey showed that nearly 90% of our staff are proud to work for Orust Municipality. Welcome to us!
About the workplace
The Individual and Family Care department consists of three units led by their respective unit managers in close collaboration. These include the Adult Unit (handling SoL support, LSS, social psychiatry, domestic violence, and harmful substance use/addiction), the Children and Youth Unit (investigating needs for support and interventions under SoL and LVU), and the Employment and Livelihood Unit (comprising the labor market unit and economic assistance).
For us, development, creativity, and innovation are vital to meeting current and future needs. We aim to create operations that continuously adapt to people's varying needs for support and to societal changes.
Your responsibilities
We are looking for a Social Secretary for the Employment and Livelihood unit, specifically within Economic Assistance. In this unit, we work to investigate and assess eligibility for economic assistance in a legally secure manner, provide advice and support to our residents, and guide them toward self-sufficiency. As society's ultimate safety net, you will meet residents with diverse and sometimes complex needs. While the causes of financial difficulties vary, the goal is always to support individuals in achieving sustainable self-sufficiency, even if the path differs for each person. We have high expectations for residents to take responsibility for their life situation, while simultaneously addressing their unique needs. This requires a balanced approach between setting demands and motivational work.
As a Social Secretary in Economic Assistance, you are a crucial link in the chain toward sustainable self-sufficiency. Some of your tasks will include:
- Investigating and assessing eligibility for economic assistance
- Mapping the individual's needs and matching them with appropriate interventions
- Creating individual plans together with the client
- Follow-up responsibility for continuity and progress for the individual
- Close collaboration with colleagues in other units and external partners to design the best possible support for the individual
About you
For this position, you must have a degree in Social Work or another higher education qualification that the employer deems equivalent. Experience and knowledge of working with economic assistance and change management are meritorious. Since part of the work involves documentation, you must express yourself well both verbally and in writing. Experience with the Lifecare system is also a plus.
You understand that a holistic view of a resident's situation is required to achieve sustainable self-sufficiency. You have a positive outlook and believe that all individuals have their own resources, though sometimes they need help seeing them themselves. You possess empathy but can also distinguish between the personal and professional.
As a person, you are creative, solution-oriented, and open to testing new ideas. You have a coaching and motivating approach, along with strong collaboration and dialogue skills. You are self-reliant and take responsibility for your work in a structured way that drives progress. You are stable and handle stressful situations constructively. You should have strong analytical skills and not be afraid to make independent decisions based on your delegation. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Finally, like us, you enjoy going to work!
