We are now looking for a student assistant to support students in teaching situations and social contexts, both inside and outside the classroom!

We strive for the attitude "All children are everyone's children" to permeate our work, for both students and staff. This means that we care for, help, and support each other. We have high expectations of ourselves and each other. Slättängsskolan is a F-9 school with one class in each grade up to grade 6. In the F-6 section, there are approximately 150 students and about 20 staff members.

Your role with us

As a student assistant, you work to help and stimulate students in need of special support in learning, development, and independence, both individually and in groups, using a low-affective approach. The role involves creating a safe environment and structure for the students, focusing on studies and conditions for developing cooperation and relationships at school. The work is carried out on behalf of the responsible teacher based on the current curriculum. You support students throughout the school day, both in the classroom, during breaks, in the after-school center, during meals and hygiene situations, as well as during other activities.

The work requires constant attention, analysis, and understanding of situations inside and outside the classroom. In close collaboration with teachers and other student assistants, you strive to find individual solutions so that every student can benefit from the teaching in the best possible way. Understanding each other's professional roles is of utmost importance. Contact and cooperation with guardians is an important part of the work, as is active participation in the workplace's development and taking responsibility for your own personal competence development. The work can be physically demanding and mentally taxing.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have one of the following:

• A high school diploma from the Child and Youth Programme with a focus on pedagogical and social work.
• Passed the vocational package "Student Assistant" within adult education or equivalent training as a student assistant at a folk high school.
• Degree/passed grades from equivalent training that the employer assesses as sufficiently extensive within pedagogy and children's development and learning.
• Meets parts of the educational requirements and has at least three years of work experience as a student assistant.

Documented experience as a student assistant or previous work in an after-school center is meritorious. We would like you to have competence and experience working with students with PTSD and diabetes.

You need to be able to choose the right course of action within the pedagogical methods and techniques the school uses. We also want you to have the ability to stimulate students in their development and have a good ability to meet school-aged children. You are a balanced and stable person with a professional attitude and can handle arising situations in a safe and calm manner.

To succeed in your role as a student assistant, it is important that you have empathetic abilities and can collaborate. Since the work can be physically demanding, good physical fitness is required.

To allow us to assess your application, you must attach degree certificates/transcripts of your completed education. When we wish to offer you the position, you are required to show an extract from the police record of offenses so that we can employ you, according to regulations in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act.
