You will become part of a very engaged and experienced team that provides services to research projects in need of various NGS-based methods, including DNA, RNA, and single-cell sequencing, as well as spatial analysis.
You will work on a project focused on establishing a method for high-throughput whole-genome sequencing of microbial genomes at the single-cell level, as well as supporting ongoing laboratory operations. The role is divided 50% project work and 50% service work.
Main tasks include:
- Project work to establish a new method for whole-genome sequencing at the single-cell level (single-cell whole genome sequencing).
- Project planning and execution of established protocols within CTG's service portfolio, including sequencing on Illumina platforms (e.g., NextSeq 2000 and NovaSeq X Plus).
- Documentation of laboratory workflows, e.g., writing protocols for new methods and participating in the continuous work to improve existing methods.
- Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and the laboratory environment.
- Various administrative tasks, such as ordering reagents and laboratory accessories.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Degree in biomedical analysis, molecular biology, biomedicine, or a related field (Bachelor's or Master's level).
- At least 6–12 months of practical laboratory experience, e.g., DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, or NGS workflows.
- At least 6–12 months of practical experience working with cell culture methods and primary cell cultures.
- Strong theoretical understanding and/or practical experience with Illumina sequencing platforms.
- Proven ability to quickly learn new methods and independently establish laboratory protocols.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
Merits for the position include:
- Experience with single-cell sequencing (e.g., based on the 10X Genomics platform).
- Experience with data analysis for single-cell projects.
- Experience working with liquid handling systems for automation of laboratory protocols.
- Very good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. You must have a good ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new methods and establish new protocols. You should also have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to perform your work independently and with high quality while meeting set deadlines.
