1 position(s).

At Kiaby School, we have approximately 66 students distributed across age-heterogeneous classes from preschool class to grade 6. The school is idyllically located in the middle of the village, close to forests and lakes. Our schoolyard offers ample opportunities for play and activities, including a creative workshop, football field, arena, sandboxes, and a "forest" area, to name a few.

At Kiaby School, you will thrive if, like us, you work with a solution-focused approach, find joy in meeting children and adults, and are committed to the development of students and the organization. You operate from the belief that all students do their best and that with the right support, they can achieve great things. It is just as important to you as it is to us to work for tolerance and understanding of differences, as well as respect for everyone's equal value.

We have two after-school departments with approximately 40 enrolled students, and we are a total of about 10 educators helping out with school and after-school activities. New for the 2026/2027 school year is a small, special education group where students who need instruction in small groups can receive support from teachers in the special educational team, after-school teachers, and special educators.

We have a close collaboration with Fjälkinge School, where our students have their lessons in physical education, crafts, home economics, and language choice. It is also Fjälkinge School's after-school center that we collaborate with during holiday consolidations.

Since it can be difficult to align working hours with the possibility of using public transport to and from Kiaby, it is an advantage if you can ensure that you can get to work without being dependent on local public transport.

We look forward to your application!

Your role with us

You are responsible for teaching in the after-school center and combine this with work/teaching in school, planned based on the needs of the student group. Opening and closing the after-school center is also part of the position.

Your main task is to create quality-assured teaching in the after-school center and in school according to the curriculum's goals, which is engaging and enthusiastic. You also work from democratic values and consider what students want in the after-school activities. For the activity to follow a red thread regarding planning and different students' needs, collaboration takes place with primary school teachers and preschool teachers. Together with your colleagues, you are also responsible for and lead outdoor activities and recess activities.

Your relationships with students are characterized by mutual respect, cooperation, a trusting approach, and positive expectations. You dare to set demands on students and are clear about the expectations placed. Documentation of the after-school activities is also included. Furthermore, you are active in collegial learning and systematically reflect on the work individually and together with others, linked to the goals of the activity and influences from the outside world.

Who are we looking for?

You who apply have a teacher certification with eligibility to teach in after-school centers in primary school, and we would like you to have eligibility for grades 1-6 in one of the subjects crafts, music, and/or physical education in primary school within the framework of your certification. We want you to have experience from work within educational activities, and experience working as a teacher in an after-school center is meritorious. The ability to support students in handling conflicts is required for the role. It is an advantage if you have a good ability to teach children in need of special support, as well as knowledge and interest in different cultures.

You are well-versed in and live up to the ethical principles for teachers, and have the ability to promote democratic values and operate from the belief that all children/students are of equal value. Furthermore, you handle leadership in the after-school center/classroom and work with goal-oriented management, planning, and documentation.

You have the ability to inspire, create interest, and meet children at the level they are at. The ability to choose pedagogical tools based on the individual's needs is required in the work. You should be able to integrate digital technology into daily operations and as a tool in your own work. Your good communication skills, sensitivity, and ability to collaborate are required to create trusting relationships with contacts inside and outside the school.

To allow us to assess your application, you must attach your degree certificate and teacher certification. When we wish to offer you the position, it is required that you show an extract from the police criminal record to enable us to employ you, according to regulations in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act.
