We are proud of our work, our results, and our workplace. We take our mission seriously!

We work so that students and staff have the desire to try, the right to make mistakes, and the courage to try again!

Your Role

As a special needs teacher, you primarily work in close supervisory collaboration with responsible teaching teachers in the classrooms. You guide students based on their needs and support teachers in finding complementary tools and methods for successful teaching. Students' knowledge and abilities are mapped in various ways during the school year, and your complementary competence in special education as well as supervision/advisory roles are crucial for the optimal development of students' learning!

As a special needs teacher:

  • You are part of our special pedagogical team, which regularly holds its own meetings and meetings with the school management.
  • You contribute to the development of the entire school in the area of accessibility.
  • You are a natural force in student health work and participate in and lead conversations with guardians and students where and when the need arises.
  • You have the competence to screen/map students' knowledge development in various areas.
  • You work with students in the classrooms, individually or in small groups.

Who and where in the organization you work with varies according to the students' needs. Our development work includes a special focus on ensuring our competencies are where the students are, i.e., in the classroom. You are experienced with a professional approach and have good didactic and pedagogical skills. You have knowledge of relevant digital tools and experience in writing pedagogical assessments and action plans. The school is in a development process where special needs teachers collaborate with lead teachers to develop students' goal achievement in mathematics and language development.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for you who have a teaching license and a special needs teacher degree with a focus on language, writing, and reading development.

We place great importance on personal suitability. You have good collaboration skills and can build good relationships, as the work involves many contact points with students, staff, and guardians. You are sensitive, independent, and have good collaboration skills.

You also have a good ability to structure and analyze your work to then be part of the remedial work.

We are looking for you with:

  • a well-rooted view of students and knowledge based on the current curriculum.
  • good knowledge regarding students' different needs in the learning environment and how to remove obstacles.
  • advanced knowledge of reading and writing difficulties.
  • ability to independently drive student cases forward.
  • knowledge and insight into the importance of good collaboration between students, parents, school staff, and school management.

As a special needs teacher, you participate together with the student health team in the school's operational development and as a support for the management in working with students in need of special support.

Work experience as a special needs teacher is a requirement. It is meritorious if you have worked as a special needs teacher for grades F-3 and if you have experience working with language- and knowledge-developing approaches as well as screening work.

The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at looking at each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.
