Personal Assistant for a 4-Year-Old Girl – Sölvesborg Municipality

The Department of Work and Welfare consists of Individual and Family Care, Support, Service and Housing, and Education, Social Security, and Prevention. In total, we have approximately 300 employees who work salutogenically and solution-oriented, with a knowledge base in methods grounded in science.

From a children's rights perspective, we help, support, and protect children and young people so they can live and develop in good and safe conditions.

The Support, Service, and Housing operations are directed towards persons within the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and social psychiatry. Our operational goals are to provide good conditions for our users to live an independent, meaningful, and active life in community with others.

Location and Scope

Personal Assistant for the user's account, placed in a private home. 1 position.

Responsibilities

The user is a 4-year-old girl living in Sölvesborg. The user has a need for medical care. She uses a wheelchair and needs extensive help with most aspects of daily life, such as hygiene, meals, dressing, and activities.

As a personal assistant, your task is to strengthen the user's opportunities to live an independent and secure life. To support, help, and guide the person in daily life through routines, support with everyday situations, planning of various activities, and contributing to an stimulating leisure time.

• You must be able to provide individual support and medical care at home.
• You must develop and maintain skills and communication, taking into account the disability.
• You must support the user's participation at different levels: individual, group, and societal.
• You must support the user's self-determination and personal integrity.
• You are responsible for social documentation according to current guidelines.
• You will perform medical tasks delegated by a nurse.
• We work from a clarifying approach, where the method Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) is central.

The position involves day, evening, and weekend shifts. You will receive a longer introduction to get to know and build a relationship with the user before you start working independently. Start date by agreement. Full-time with the possibility of part-time.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have passed the Care and Nursing program or are trained as a nursing assistant. It is an advantage if you have studied the disability focus.

You have experience working with people with disabilities, good knowledge of care work, and clarifying pedagogy. It is an advantage if you have previously worked with Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), can interpret body language, facial expressions, and sounds, and can convey images, symbols, and objects. You must be able to handle users with challenging behavior and work with a low-affective approach.

You must be responsible, confident in yourself, and able to work in collaboration with others. You adapt easily to changed circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and attitude. You see opportunities in changes.

You are a person with good teamwork skills, are flexible, have great patience, and can make independent decisions since the work involves working alone.

Documentation and communication are important parts of the daily work, so you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing. If you lack a passing grade in Swedish at the upper secondary level, a language test will be used to ensure competence. The recruiting manager may decide that a language test should be used even if there is a passing grade.

You who apply to us must have a Category B driver's license to move around easily within Sölvesborg Municipality when needed.

According to the Act (2010:479) on Register Control of Personnel Performing Certain Interventions for Children with Disabilities, you must be able to show an extract from the criminal record register when offered employment. Probationary employment may be applied if there is a need for trial.
