Welcome to us at the Cultural School! Here we offer courses in music, visual arts, theatre, dance, photo/film, and creative writing. The teaching in our operations takes place both individually and in groups where students get to create together with others. As a teacher, you can contribute to students' leisure interests or the beginning of a lifelong passion. At the Cultural School in Karlstad, we offer instruction in saxophone, clarinet, flute, and recorder within woodwinds. Within brass, we offer instruction in trumpet, trombone, tuba, French horn, and baritone. We have orchestras and ensembles at different levels, and we often play music with other instruments as well.

Responsibilities

As a teacher of woodwind instruments, you will teach saxophone and clarinet, individually or in groups. The teaching time varies but is at least 20 minutes. In your teaching, you will contribute to awakening students' desire and joy for music, providing tools to develop ear training, sight-reading, improvisation, and musical expression.

The position also includes teaching in orchestral playing where students practice playing together with others. Instruction in wind bands is also included, at some schools around the municipality. Every year, concerts and other outward-facing activities are arranged to showcase the cultural school's activities, which you will be involved in.

You will be part of a work team together with the cultural school's other teachers in woodwinds and brass, but also collaborate with other work teams.

The position will be filled if necessary decisions are made.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a degree from a University College of Music or equivalent with a focus on saxophone and clarinet. Merit is if you have previous experience from a cultural school or other pedagogical activities.

As a person, you have good cooperation skills with both colleagues and students, and you have a flexible approach. We also want you to have a holistic thinking that includes the Cultural School's cultural role in the municipality and in collaboration with other cultural institutions. It is important that you are self-reliant, creative, take initiative, and have a positive attitude towards your work.
