We are looking for you who want to work as a special needs teacher (specialpedagog) with us at Stålvallaskolan and Nordmarks skola! Stålvallaskolan is a grades F–9 school located in Lesjöfors, approximately three miles north of Filipstad. The school has approximately 100 students divided into two different buildings for students in grades F–5 and 6–9 respectively, and has an after-school program.

Nordmarks skola is beautifully situated in nature in Nordmarkshyttan, about 1.5 miles from Filipstad, and is a grades F–6 school. The school has just over 40 students divided into a preschool class, a grades 1–3 class, and a grades 4–6 class. The school also has an after-school center.

Both schools have student health teams consisting of the principal/assistant principal, special needs teacher, counselor, and school nurse. We actively work to ensure that students thrive and feel safe at the schools, for example by offering structured break activities and continuous values-based work in the classrooms.

A total of approximately 25 dedicated employees work at Stålvallaskolan and seven employees at Nordmarks skola.

Responsibilities

As a special needs teacher, you will be part of the schools' student health services and have close collaboration with the schools' pedagogues. A large part of the assignment will be to stimulate reading and work towards the goal that all students can read and understand what they are reading when they leave grade six. In this work, you will work closely together with the teachers and students. Collaboration with students, guardians, and teachers is an important part of the assignment.

Another major part of the assignment will be to be responsible for assessments and analyses to work together with teachers based on these analyses to develop students' learning.

As a special needs teacher at Stålvallaskolan and Nordmarks skola, you will be very present in the classrooms to observe and provide guidance. The assignment also includes driving collegial processes together with the teachers. Administrative tasks, such as investigations and action plans, are part of the assignment, and this work also involves collaboration with students, guardians, and teachers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a teaching license for primary school grades F–6 and/or 7–9, as well as a degree in special needs education. It is meritorious if you have studied courses in reading, language, and writing development. It is also meritorious if you have previous experience working with result compilation and analysis of results, as well as previous experience mentoring teachers and being responsible for driving collegial learning. A B-class driver's license is a requirement.

As a special needs teacher, you need to have a good ability to handle different people, collaborate, and interact. You need to have administrative skills as well as good knowledge in analysis work and well-developed computer literacy.

As a person, we place great emphasis on you being flexible and structured with good collaboration skills. You easily create relationships with both students, guardians, and colleagues. As a person, you are secure and stable, which is also reflected in your way of handling different situations. You have your own drive where you structure your work in a clear and good way and work to achieve the school's common goals.
