ABOUT THE JOB

This is not just any job; it is a mission for you who enjoy sports, video games, humor, and making a real difference.

You will be working with a charming boy with a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. He loves animals and nature, electric floorball, playing with friends, Rögle (a hockey team), video games, and his family. He is curious and enjoys going to school and learning new things.

The boy has a nerve/muscle disease that affects all his motor skills, but otherwise, he is just like any other 7-year-old – with humor and a clear iron will.

Since the work will take place both at home and at school, you need to be able to interpret different contexts to know how to act as an assistant. In some contexts, you will be more present in schoolwork/play and have a close dialogue with the child. In other contexts, you need to be able to step back to let the child practice independence and be "alone" with his friends, teachers, or parents. During such times, you will instead shadow him and be helpful when needed.

At this workplace, you will get to make a difference for the child. Training and preventive work contribute to the child's development. We are looking for someone who wants to stay with the child for a longer period to create a long-term solution.

WHO ARE YOU?

We are looking for a guy aged 18-40 who:

• Has a sense of humor and is easy to talk to.
• Is social, secure, and responsive.
• Has the drive to come up with things, try new things, and guide and entice others outside their comfort zone.
• Is responsible, but not rigid – more of a friend with responsibility than a caregiver.
• Will be the boy's arms and legs and help with e.g., transfers, meals (tube feeding), and personal hygiene.
• Is a non-smoker.

The workplace is both in the family's home, where mom, dad, older sister, dog, and cat live, but also at school, leisure activities, and with relatives and friends.

We are looking for you who are educated as a childcare worker, assistant nurse, childminder, or personal assistant with experience working with children, or have other equivalent education.

If you have previously worked as a personal assistant, it is meritorious, but the most important thing is personal chemistry. So don't be afraid to apply even if you lack experience. It is important that you have a good understanding of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

The role of personal assistant requires that you are a stable and independent person with a high degree of personal maturity. You have a good ability to maintain a well-functioning collaboration with both parents, colleagues, and other people you meet in your work.

You are proactive and enjoy driving the work forward by working together with parents and colleagues. Furthermore, you adapt easily to changed circumstances.

You should be child-loving, swim proficient, and in good physical shape to be able to keep a high pace. You should have good pedagogical skills for working with children. As a person, you possess a good ability to motivate and communicate.

The job is located outside Ängelholm. A driver's license is a requirement to get to the workplace located in the countryside, as well as to travel to activities with the child.

Healthcare interventions in the form of self-care, such as tube feeding via PEG, handling of a cough assist machine, inhalation treatment, and suctioning, are included.

You will also accompany the child on various activities, both on your own and together with the parents.

The working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, and some night work will occur. The working hours may vary, and together with the parents and other colleagues, you may get to help schedule your hours. The position is for as long as the assignment lasts and is approximately 75-100%.

We use the digital scheduling and time reporting system Aiai, which means you should be computer literate.

An extract from the police record of convictions is required to work with children within the scope of the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments).

WHO IS EILA?

We started our operations in February 1995 in Ängelholm and are now located in various places in Scania (Skåne).

We are a non-profit association for people with various functional impairments who are entitled to personal assistance according to LSS – The Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments.

We currently have 20 members/users with various functional impairments, where over 140 employees work in different forms of employment, and several users are on their way into our operations. We have a collective agreement with Kommunal. Most of the assistants are recruited "from outside," but we also have relatives employed as personal assistants.

EILA functions as an interest group for the members and has overall responsibility for their assistance and all staff. Eila is affiliated with the collective agreement between Fremia and Kommunal.
