to apply for the job
We are now looking for two new colleagues: a social secretary for our eviction prevention team and one for our reception team.
Here, you will contribute to the security of vulnerable people while developing together with a strong and supportive team. You will find meaningful work where you meet people in different life situations and help create the conditions for the right support and interventions.
Your responsibilities
Social Secretary for the Eviction Prevention Team
In the eviction prevention team, you work to prevent evictions and strengthen individuals' opportunities to keep their housing. The work is carried out in close collaboration with both internal and external actors, such as landlords and the Swedish Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden).
You investigate, assess, and decide on interventions according to the Social Services Act (SoL). The target group is adults at risk of losing their housing, for example, people with psychosocial difficulties and/or harmful substance use and addiction.
Social Secretary for the Reception Team
In the reception team, you have a central role in receiving and assessing new cases. Here, too, you work with adults with harmful substance use and addiction and/or housing social challenges.
The work includes, among other things, preliminary assessments, urgent housing assessments, as well as LVM (Care of Mentally Disturbed Persons Act) and LVU (Young Persons Act) assessments. After the initial assessment, you are responsible for referring the case to the correct colleague or function for further processing.
The work in the reception primarily consists of initial assessments, guidance, and ensuring correct further handling, while investigative work occurs only to a very limited extent.
In both roles, it is important that you feel secure in your profession, have good assessment skills, and thrive in a varied daily routine. Here, you work independently while having support from engaged colleagues and team leaders. We offer regular team meetings, external supervision, and good opportunities for competence development.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who is curious, responsible, and has a strong commitment to social work. You are driven by making a difference for people and contributing to increased security and well-being in society.
You work in a structured and independent manner with good judgment. At the same time, you see the value of collaboration and are happy to contribute your knowledge and perspectives to the team. You have the ability to handle a varied workday and feel secure in making assessments and well-founded decisions, even in situations requiring quick judgments.
You have an academic degree in a relevant field, for example as a social worker or behavioral scientist, and good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL). Education in social law is highly meritorious. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is an advantage if you have experience of authority exercise within social services as well as investigative and assessment work. Knowledge of mental illness, harmful substance use, and addiction is also valuable. Good knowledge of the Administrative Procedure Act and rental legislation, as well as a B-driver's license and driving experience, is an asset in the role.
We offer
Here, you will work in the Social Services House, right next to the station area, where different competencies meet and collaboration is close. There are colleagues with broad experience who support you in your daily life, and as a new employee, you will receive a secure and well-thought-out introduction. With commitment and competence, we contribute with our interventions to create stability and good quality of life for people in Västerås.
Here you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in the big and the small. We live our values in the meeting with each other and those we are there for. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approx. 11,500 colleagues around the city, you get Sweden's most important job.
