To strengthen and further develop the command system in Rescue Region MittNorrland, we are now looking for an Operations Manager. In this role, you are responsible for the ongoing operation of the joint command system for municipal rescue services in the region.

The command system covers the rescue services in Jämtland, Västernorrland, as well as the R10 municipalities in Västerbotten and inland Norrbotten. The system is a central part of the region's ability to lead and coordinate rescue operations.

As Operations Manager, you work closely with the Command Developer and have a coordinating role on behalf of the Steering Group. Together, you contribute to ensuring a stable, functional, and development-oriented command organization.

About the Job

In the role of Operations Manager, you are responsible for coordinating and monitoring the daily operation of the command system. You work to ensure effective working methods, clear routines, and good collaboration between the participating organizations.

The work involves among other things:

  • ensuring coordination between our two workplaces in Sundsvall and Östersund through monitoring of working methods, routines, and collaboration with SOS Alarm
  • being responsible for coordinating schedule planning and overall staffing issues in the system
  • acting as a link between working groups within the command system and the Steering Group, together with the Command Developer
  • handling issues related to the system's operation linked to decided steering documents
  • ensuring that steering documents are up-to-date, functional, and followed in operations
  • coordinating contacts with collaborating parties such as SOS Alarm, regions, county administrative boards, and police
  • supporting responsible managers in matters concerning leadership and monitoring of personnel within the system's functions

About Us

Rescue Region MittNorrland is a collaboration between the rescue services of 25 municipalities in northern Sweden to strengthen the ability for joint leadership and coordination during rescue operations. Command functions in overall command are staffed by the rescue service organizations in Jämtland and Västernorrland with workplaces in Östersund and Sundsvall where we are co-located with SOS Alarm.

As Operations Manager, you are employed by the Jämtland Rescue Service Association, which is responsible for rescue services and preventive activities according to the Act on Protection against Accidental Disasters in all eight municipalities in Jämtland County. We have 35 fire stations and 9 rescue centers, and the vast majority of our approximately 600 employees are on-call firefighters (RiB).

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you have:

  • post-secondary education in areas such as societal security, leadership, business development, public administration, or another area deemed relevant by the employer. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent knowledge through several years of work experience in leadership, coordination, or development work.
  • a valid driver's license (Category B)
  • good IT skills
  • good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Meritorious

  • Experience of collaboration between several organizations or authorities
  • Experience in translating operational needs into processes, routines, or services

Terms of Employment

Salary and start date according to agreement. Probationary period may be applied for the first 6 months.

Your main place of employment will be Östersund.
