Hundreds of cases and matters are decided every day in the Swedish courts. At Halmstad District Court, we are approximately 40 employees with various competencies who together maintain legal certainty and high quality at all levels. We handle criminal cases, civil cases, and matters, and are organized into four units: the judge's unit, the preparation unit, the case unit, and the administrative unit.

We are located in central Halmstad with a view of the Nissan river, offering stimulating and developing work with opportunities for both internal and external training.

As a Court Clerk (Domstolshandläggare), you are offered varied and developing tasks in an important operation. You will be responsible for managing the administrative preparation and handling of all types of cases and matters handled by the district court.

Daily contact with parties, representatives, authorities, and the public is common. Your tasks may include preparing and planning for trials, handling correspondence, monitoring deadlines, receiving and registering information in cases and matters, taking minutes during hearings, issuing judgments, and archiving documents. You will also, after a decision on delegation, perform actions independently, such as appointing a public defender.

The role of a Court Clerk combines legal precision with a professional and service-oriented approach. A Court Clerk represents the court externally and must be able to meet both the public and professional actors with confidence in a respectful and trustworthy manner.

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is responsible, meticulous, and has a pronounced service orientation. You are flexible, receptive, and unpretentious. You express yourself well in speech and writing and have an easy time building good relationships. You are computer literate and have the ability to learn new systems and programs. You need to be able to handle different tasks, people, and situations. Under high pressure, you must be able to prioritize and plan your work well. You have good judgment, are responsible, and have the ability to work carefully and independently, but can also collaborate with others to achieve the organization's goals. You actively contribute to the workplace's joint work, organizational development, and a good work climate. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

You must also have an inclusive mindset and stand up for democracy and the public sector values that govern the operations of the Swedish Courts. We also require that you comply with current laws.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed and approved upper secondary education with final grades/diploma.
  • Good experience working with computers and digital methods, as well as an interest in IT and digitalization.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • Very good administrative skills and experience working in a structured manner.

It is meritorious if you have experience working in case handling/preparation; this experience is particularly valuable if it is from work within the court system or any of the authorities we interact with daily in our work. It can also be meritorious if you have post-secondary education in social sciences, law, or similar, such as Paralegal.

To be considered for employment, you must meet high demands regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. Register checks may be conducted prior to employment.

As a new Court Clerk, you will receive a thorough and well-planned introduction where you will learn tasks, systems, and routines step by step. You will be assigned a supervisor, have clear training moments, and the opportunity to follow experienced colleagues.
