Our core values rest on credibility, trust, and security. By being brave, thinking freely, and doing new things, we create a better future together, through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us!
Your responsibilities
The research is conducted within the framework of an MSCA-DN project focused on sustainable remediation, where so-called geophysics-supported remediation strategies are studied in comparison with conventional remediation strategies. The project aims to develop and apply methods to assess environmental impact, ecosystem services, as well as technical and socio-economic aspects linked to different remediation alternatives.
The current call covers two doctoral positions with complementary focuses. One position focuses on developing and applying a generic methodology to analyze the environmental impact and ecosystem services of different remediation strategies under varying project and contextual conditions. The other position focuses on developing methods to analyze technical and socio-economic aspects and to conduct trade-offs between different sustainability criteria, including stakeholder perspectives.
The work involves methodology development, case studies, and applications in different project contexts. This may include data analysis, modeling, literature studies, as well as interaction with relevant stakeholders. The results are expected to contribute with increased knowledge about central factors influencing the choice of remediation strategies and trade-offs between different sustainability goals.
As a doctoral student, you will focus on your doctoral education and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participation in other departmental duties, up to 20 percent of full-time.
An MSCA Doctoral Network (DN) is an international research and education collaboration where universities and organizations from several countries jointly train doctoral students. The project combines research with structured doctoral education, including courses, joint activities, and exchanges between different higher education institutions and sectors (academia and industry). The purpose is to give doctoral students broad competence through international mobility, interdisciplinary work, and close collaboration with various societal actors. Read more about the project at https://rescue-dn.eu/ (https://rescue-dn.eu/).
Your qualifications
You have completed an advanced level degree in a relevant area, such as environmental engineering, industrial environmental engineering, sustainable development, earth sciences, technical physics, or equivalent, or completed courses totaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at an advanced level, or alternatively acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.
To be eligible for the position, you must meet the MSCA requirements for doctoral students. This means you must not have obtained a doctoral degree, and at the time of employment, you must not have been resident or had your main activity in Sweden for more than 12 months during the last three years.
For the position, it is important that you have an interest in sustainability issues and systems analysis. Knowledge or experience in areas such as life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental systems analysis, remediation technology, geophysical methods, or techno-economic analysis is meritorious.
We seek candidates who can work independently and systematically, and who have good analytical skills. Collaboration skills are important, as the work is done in a project form and in dialogue with other researchers and stakeholders.
Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement since research, publication, and scientific communication take place in English.
