Your responsibilities
As a special needs teacher, you will be part of our study team, contributing the special needs perspective regarding preventive measures and adjustments. You will also map, analyze, and document students' needs for support and adjustments. Another of your responsibilities is to mentor and support teachers at the various schools (both within the municipality's own organization and authorized schools) within the municipal adult education system to increase knowledge development and achieve higher goal fulfillment.
You are expected to work both independently and in groups, as well as in close collaboration with other functions at the workplace. Additionally, you will work with group information, marketing in various contexts, development work, environmental scanning, and other tasks.
The target group studying within adult education is heterogeneous.
Adult education offers both classroom and distance learning. Since most courses are conducted online, you need to be well-versed in digital tools. The role of special needs teacher requires great innovation and engagement to meet the needs of our diverse target groups. The assignment is dynamic and places high demands on flexibility and the ability to adapt to new circumstances with short notice.
The position is a parental leave substitute from 2026-09-01 to 2027-04-30.
Your workplace
The Centre for Adult Education is a unit that consolidates the cross-municipal functions and authority exercises of adult education in Linköping Municipality, providing conditions for effective management, control, and operational follow-up.
The unit is led by an Area Manager and Principal who are tasked with consolidating and developing various assignments within adult education: admission to adult education, study and career guidance, quality follow-up, communication, information, and outreach activities, support services, operational follow-up, and evaluation of authorized adult education. The Centre for Adult Education is tasked with ensuring the quality of education provided by educational organizers that have agreements with Linköping Municipality. This assignment includes systematically and continuously following up on schools' adult education, analyzing results, and ensuring that current agreements are followed, using this to plan and create materials for further development of adult education.
You who apply
We are looking for you who have a degree in special needs education and who need to be well-versed in the Swedish education system. It is meritorious if you have previous experience of adult learning and experience of working with several different assignments simultaneously. It is also meritorious if you have experience and knowledge of second language acquisition and ADHD/ASD (NPF).
You preferably have experience working in a politically governed organization, as we work systematically and result-oriented according to the board's goals. You have good knowledge of IT-based technology and digital tools. We would like to see that you have experience driving various development issues within your profession and that you actively want to and can contribute to the development of our operations.
You are self-reliant, responsible, and accustomed to driving your work both on your own and together with others. Through a conscious approach, you create security, trust, and good relationships. You see the big picture and prioritize the right questions, listen in, and create understanding while acting and being flexible in changes. Since the position involves a lot of communication and many contact surfaces, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both orally and in writing. It is of great importance that you show personal maturity, the ability to distinguish between the professional and the private, and the ability to meet people based on their individual conditions.
