The Citizen Administration in Värnamo consists of 6 sections, where foster homes are included in the section Family Law GGVV and Foster Homes. The section is led by a unit manager and consists of 20 employees, distributed among the foster home group, Family Law GGVV (Gislaved, Gnosjö, Vaggeryd, and Värnamo), and one internal consultant.

The foster home group consists of 10 social secretaries (4 foster home secretaries, 5 child follow-up officers, and 1 position that is a combination of foster home secretary and child follow-up officer) and 1 group leader. We are now looking for a new colleague who is interested in working as a child follow-up officer.

Job Responsibilities

To the foster home group, we are now seeking a social secretary responsible for the follow-up of children and young people placed in foster homes.

When a child is placed outside their home, their entire life changes – and that is when we need reliable social secretaries who can hold the effort together. In this role, you are responsible for implementing decisions regarding placement in foster care and continuously following up on the care. You hold the overall picture together regarding the child or young person and work with both what is happening here and now and what requires more long-term planning. The work involves close collaboration with foster home secretaries and other important actors (schools, healthcare, etc.) to ensure that the child's needs are met and that the placement functions as securely and sustainably as possible. Since placements can be both within and outside the municipality, you will travel as part of the job. In many situations, you will meet children, young people, and their networks in both everyday and more challenging moments, contributing with a calm and professional approach. This is a job where you truly get to use your entire skill set – and where your commitment makes a concrete difference for children and young people. In the role of social secretary, it is especially important to build good and long-term relationships with the children and young people who are placed, and your responsibility becomes to monitor, support, and follow the young person's needs.

Within the Citizen Administration, we work based on the "Signs of Safety" approach, which is partly based on the idea that our children and young people should maintain as much contact as possible with their biological network, where possible. In your role, this means you will work with the child/young person's biological parents and the surrounding network. There is close cooperation between the social secretary and the foster home secretary regarding the placed child. This also includes internal collaboration within the Citizen Administration as well as external collaboration with, for example, schools and healthcare.

Your closest colleagues, whom you work closely with, are the foster home secretaries who are responsible for recruiting, investigating, and supervising foster homes and emergency homes. The foster home secretaries are also responsible for investigating contact persons and contact families.

The work includes ongoing documentation.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a degree in Social Work. You should have experience in the authority functions of social services, preferably directed towards children/young people. You have good knowledge of the social services' mission and current legislation. You must have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as well as good computer and documentation/investigation skills. It is an advantage if you have experience in foster care work. We place great emphasis on your personal suitability in terms of cooperation skills, commitment, orderliness, and interest in developing the operations.
