Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse problems across the country. Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the job as a Treatment Pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a Treatment Pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people (non-compulsory school-age boys) living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified nursing and motivational work and act as a support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and help ensure that daily life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Contact person duties are also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's core values, being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are secure in yourself and have an easy time building relationships with young people as well as with the rest of the staff group. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to cooperate with others and can handle conflicts constructively. The formal requirements for employment as a Treatment Pedagogue at the agency are as follows:

• Graduation from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent
• B driving license
• Good Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious requirements:

• Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care.
• Experience from client-facing positions at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Probation Officer
• Security Guard Training
• Experience working with our target group (e.g., addiction care, youth care, young boys, etc.)

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.

We also have a 3-day introduction that needs to be completed before you as an employee can work with clients as well as shadowing with regular staff. As a new employee, you will also go through SiS basic training for 10 weeks.
