Teacher for Adapted Primary School in Karlskoga

We are currently looking for 1–2 teachers for the adapted primary school who want to make a difference in the daily lives of students.

Development and Support

If you are a newly graduated teacher, you will be assigned a mentor for guidance during your first year. If you are studying to become a teacher, there are also good opportunities to combine work with studies. As a teacher in Karlskoga Municipality schools, you have the opportunity to continue your professional development and advance your career. You can, for example, become a practicum supervisor or a lead teacher, and we apply distributed leadership with responsibility for various development groups.

About the Operations

Karlskoga's adapted primary school is part of the school administration and is located at three different units:

  • Bråtenskolan – subject areas, grades 1–9
  • Sandviksskolan – subjects, grades 1–6
  • Österledsskolan – subjects, grades 7–9

We have a total of approximately 65 students in our operations. In our work teams, teachers and support staff collaborate closely based on the students' prerequisites and needs. Our work is characterized by collaboration, participation, and a clear focus on student development. You will play an important role in creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where every student is given the best possible conditions to succeed.

Responsibilities

You will be part of one of our work teams and teach within subject areas. The position also includes mentorship. Depending on the needs of the operations and your experience, a role as a work team leader may also be relevant.

Your responsibilities include:

  • planning, implementing, and following up on teaching within the subjects you are responsible for
  • analyzing teaching and results
  • exercising mentorship/performing homeroom teacher duties
  • contact with parents
  • contributing to school development
  • collaboration with the student health team, school management, and external parties
  • work team work
  • working and documenting in the operational systems in use

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed teacher with eligibility to teach in primary school.

You are a confident and clear leader in the classroom and have an easy time creating and maintaining good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You value and contribute to good collaboration by having an open, accommodating, and problem-solving approach. You are structured and have the ability to plan, organize, and analyze student learning as well as your teaching structure in an effective way that leads to desired results.

To contribute to the school's continued digital development, you are expected to possess good IT skills and be able to easily adapt to digital systems. Furthermore, you master the Swedish language to such an extent that you can communicate with students, colleagues, and guardians, and that you can document in writing what the operations require.

Merits

It is an advantage if you:

  • are a special needs teacher with a focus on intellectual disability
  • have experience working with students with intellectual disabilities
  • have experience working as a teacher
  • have experience with language-developing methods
  • have experience working with Swedish as a second language

Personal suitability is given great weight.

To work in preschool, school, and youth and leisure activities, you must, according to the Register Control Act, provide a certificate of good conduct from the police. You must request the extract yourself from the National Police Board using the form "Extract from the criminal record" in the form archive on the police website.
