About the position

As a special needs educator at Engelbrektsskolan, you will be part of a driven and active student health team where you have the opportunity to influence the work forward.

In the role of special needs educator, you will largely collaborate with management, the student health team, and teaching teams. You will manage a functional collaboration with teachers, contributing to the continued development of the school's operations and teaching. The work also involves various types of coaching and supervision of teachers, both individually and in groups. In this position, you will also be responsible for the smaller teaching groups at the school.

Examples of tasks:

  • Work promotionally and preventively, and follow up and evaluate implemented measures together with those involved.
  • Conduct pedagogical investigations regarding the need for special support.
  • Work together with school management, the student health team, and other school staff to create an accessible and good learning environment for the students.
  • Be a qualified conversation partner and supervise teachers and school staff, initiating appropriate interventions in collaboration with other professional groups based on students' needs.
  • Independently lead and support the development of pedagogical work to meet the needs of all students.

About the workplace

Engelbrektsskolan is located near Örebro city center and our beautiful city park, specifically at Svartån (Slussen). The school has students from grades 4 to 9, totaling approximately 770 students. The school also includes adapted primary school grades 4-9 and a leisure center for grades 4-6. The school's profile is dance and football. Engelbrektsskolan has been run as a municipal intrapreneurship for a few years.

Qualifications

In the role of special needs educator, you work close to operations and are accessible to the work team. You are secure in your role, take responsibility for your tasks, and understand that people absorb knowledge in different ways. You are responsive, flexible, and collaborate well with others. Since the position involves some freedom under responsibility, you must have the ability to structure your tasks. Furthermore, you must master the Swedish language to a level that allows you to communicate with children, relatives, and other staff, and to document in writing as required by the operations. As the work involves digital documentation, good computer skills are also required.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • Teacher certification with eligibility to teach in primary school, or alternatively, a degree that qualifies for teacher certification.
  • Special needs education degree (90 credits).
