Do you want to help shape today's youth in an stimulating school environment? We are now looking for an engaged special needs teacher for Kumlaby School F-6.

Kumlaby School is a F-9 school located in the southern part of Kumla. It also includes adapted primary school for grades 1-9. Near the school, there are beautiful outdoor areas with many opportunities for various outdoor activities. We expect approximately 200 students in the autumn term of 2026. The school's organization is divided into three work teams, divided by grade level.

The Student Health Service participates in conferences continuously, and we work very closely with an attendance coach. This autumn, we will focus on developing the classroom environment, language development, and our after-school activities.

Job Responsibilities

Together with colleagues, work teams, and school leadership, we work to ensure that every student develops as much as possible. As a teacher in grades 4-6, you work in close collaboration with the school's other professionals within the Student Health Service as well as the principal. In collaboration with other colleagues and the Student Health Service, you work towards a good learning environment for the students.

As a special needs teacher, you work in close collaboration with the school's other professionals within the Student Health Service, as well as the principal and deputy principal. In your role as a special needs teacher, you teach students with a need for special support and will work in our flexible unit as well as with students in the classroom. You have good knowledge of child development and learning and see the individual's needs at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In the role of special needs teacher, the ability to communicate and collaborate with students, guardians, and other professional groups is of great importance. As a special needs teacher, you conduct pedagogical assessments, design action plans, follow up on, and evaluate implemented measures.

Main responsibilities as a special needs teacher

• Work promotively and preventively, and support the development of pedagogical work to meet the needs of all students.
• Follow up on and evaluate implemented measures at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
• An individualized approach for children and students in need of special support, as well as critically reviewing and applying methods to assess children's and students' language, writing, and reading development or mathematical development.
• Conduct language and knowledge-developing teaching.
• Be a qualified conversation partner and advisor based on specialization.
• In collaboration with the Student Health Service team, conduct pedagogical assessments regarding the need for special support concerning language, writing, reading, or mathematical development for students.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Are a licensed special needs teacher in primary school.
• Always put students at the center.
• Are engaged, confident in your role, and have good collaboration skills.

Great importance is attached to personal qualities, collaboration skills, and flexibility.

Other merits:

• Experience with children with NPF (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) and working with children in need of special support.
• Experience in working with language and knowledge development.
• Experience in driving development work at the school.
