You become part of a values-driven organization with engaged colleagues working together to improve children's living conditions – locally, nationally, and globally.
This position belongs to the organization's West Region, one of four regions within Save the Children's Sweden Program. In the West Region, approximately 50 employees work together with volunteers and elected representatives. The region has offices in Gothenburg and Karlstad, as well as project and operational sites in several locations.
Save the Children is running an AMIF-funded project regarding safe housing solutions for children in migration. A key part of this is creating meaningful, safe, and structured leisure activities for children living at or near Restad Gård. The project aims to strengthen children's mental well-being, reduce isolation, and create daily structure through play, creativity, and community. We are now looking for two activity leaders for Restad Gård.
ABOUT THE ROLEAs an activity leader, you are responsible for planning and implementing activities for children after school hours and during weekends. The activities are designed based on the children's needs, interests, and rights, and should contribute to safety, participation, and joy in everyday life.
You work closely with the children in their living environment and create an inclusive and safe space where children have the opportunity to just be children – regardless of their life situation. The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues in the project, housing staff, as well as any volunteers and partners.
The role includes:
- Planning, leading, and implementing pedagogical, creative, and social activities
- Creating safe contexts with clear frameworks and routines
- Working relationally and rights-based together with children
- Contributing to follow-up and development of operations within the AMIF project
- Noticing children's needs and signals and collaborating with colleagues when necessary
You will receive support from project management and operational developers within the region.
ARE YOU OUR NEW COLLEAGUE?To succeed in the role, we see that you have:
- Experience working with children and young people, especially in vulnerable or migration-related contexts
- Pedagogical experience or familiarity leading groups of children in structured activities
- Ability to create safe relationships and meet children with different backgrounds and experiences
- Knowledge of children's rights, norm-critical perspectives, and a rights-based approach
- Experience working in housing facilities for asylum seekers or newly arrived refugees
- Experience in club life, leisure activities, or open operations
- Experience in participatory working methods and strengthening children's participation
- Multilingualism
- Local knowledge or connection to the area
All employees within Save the Children are expected to naturally adhere to our values.
PERSONAL QUALITIESWe are looking for you who are secure, responsible, and relationship-building. You are sensitive to children's needs while being clear in your leadership. You enjoy working with others, are solution-oriented, and can handle unexpected situations in a calm and professional manner. You stand up for children's rights and Save the Children's values, even in complex contexts.
