About the position

As a sign-language proficient resource teacher, you will be present during the school day to support a student and the staff. You will be present in teaching situations as a sign-language proficient resource teacher acting as an interpreter, as well as during conversations with guardians acting as an interpreter. You will collaborate with teaching teachers and the student health service.

Examples of tasks:

  • Resource person with interpreting duties for a student during lessons, breaks, and other situations during the school day.
  • Close support for a student and staff.

About the workplace

Tybblelundsskolan is located southeast of Örebro city center, near Örebro University and next to Tybblelundshallen. It is a three-track comprehensive school for students from preschool class to grade 6. Currently, we have approximately 500 students and about 70 staff members. In each grade, a work team works closely with the students on education and after-school activities. Qualifications

To be able to be a good support in your work, it is required that you can use the Swedish language and Swedish Sign Language separately in different situations, that you can switch between the languages in a joint context, and that you have a sense of when one or the other language should be used.

As a resource teacher, you are careful and independent in your work. To succeed in the position, it is important that you find it interesting to meet different types of individuals and that you thrive in a flexible work situation. Naturally, you have a positive view of students and a genuine interest in working with our students.

Furthermore, you master the Swedish language to such an extent that you can communicate with children, guardians, and other staff, as well as document in writing what the operations require. Good computer skills are also required for documentation. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • Adequate upper secondary education, e.g., Child and Youth Sector Programme or other equivalent education assessed by the employer as equivalent for the position.
  • Good knowledge of sign language.
  • Communicate in spoken Swedish with students and colleagues who do not master sign language.

Merits:

  • Trained sign language interpreter and/or deaf interpreter.
  • Experience working with students in grades 4–6.
  • Experience working with students with NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) diagnoses.
  • Experience translating between spoken Swedish and Swedish Sign Language.
