The Education Division has over 1,900 employees, and together we work to provide children, young people, and adults with a good education. Our focus is on stimulating students' learning and development based on their own prerequisites. We are responsible for, among other things, 31 preschools, 17 primary schools, adapted primary schools, Nyköping Upper Secondary School, adapted upper secondary schools, and adult education at Campus Nyköping.

Our Organization

Our F-9 organization consists of 17 primary schools and special primary schools divided into seven different principal areas. In each principal area, there is a principal, several deputy principals, and a student health team comprising various professions. With schools in both rural areas and urban centers, we work to increase equality and integration within and between schools, as well as strengthen the quality of the municipal primary school. It is about giving all students – regardless of school – the same opportunities for education and development.

The focus in recent years has been to develop a plan for systematic quality work and a common language-developing approach for the entire organization. It is important to us that time is dedicated to working on our common issues at both the management and operational levels; therefore, there is scheduled time every week at each school for conferences, development work, collaborative projects, and more.

About Östra Skolan

Östra Skolan is a municipal primary school centrally located near, among other things, Nyköping City Library and the Museum. Östra Skolan is a future-oriented F-6 school with approximately 350 fantastic students. The school is part of Principal Area E, together with Västra Skolan and Dammlötskolan.

Through collegial work, we focus on our development areas based on the municipality's school development plan. We are part of a research initiative with Uppsala University, IBIS (Inclusive Behavioral Support in Schools). We have also implemented Singamathematics for All in recent years. This autumn, we will focus on reading.

At Östra Skolan, we have a Studio, an adapted learning environment for students who need it.

Responsibilities

Östra Skolan is looking for you who want to make a difference for students in their lifelong learning. Attractive learning environments and modern teachers provide unique opportunities. As a Special Education Teacher with us, you are part of our student health team and work closely with the school's pedagogues. The position is directed towards the youngest students at the school.

In the municipality, we use Prorenata, which is the student health's digital documentation system. We use Legilex to follow up on results.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will:

• Create pedagogical investigations and action plans together with teachers.
• Facilitate contacts and participate in various meetings.
• Support colleagues in working with different forms of assessment support, analyze results, and compile summaries.
• Counsel staff in removing obstacles and difficulties for students who need extra adaptations and special support.
• Participate in and counsel pedagogues in the promoting and preventive work.
• Be a support for individual students.

Qualifications and Merits

Qualifications:
You are a licensed teacher with a Special Education Teacher degree. It is an advantage if you have knowledge and experience in systematically working with counseling and consultation regarding extra adaptations and special support, as well as early reading acquisition, preferably also mathematics.

Personal qualities:

• You have very good communication skills in contacts with students, teachers, and guardians.
• You listen, converse, and challenge in discussions about didactic and pedagogical issues, and you keep up-to-date with current research.
• You have a good ability to work independently and can take your own initiatives.
