Job Description
As a University Lecturer at MDU, your main tasks involve teaching. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. At our university, research and education are closely intertwined, with research forming the foundation of our educational programs. Collaboration is also an integrated part of our research and educational mission, and as a University Lecturer, you will actively contribute to the university's development work. The role also includes general administration, competence development, and participation in daily operations, as well as work within the subject area and the academy.
The duties include teaching Swedish as a Second Language at undergraduate and advanced levels, including course responsibility, examination, and thesis supervision. Teaching is primarily conducted on campus within the teacher education program, but may also include other programs and standalone courses, both on campus and via distance learning.
Eligibility Requirements
We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has completed a doctoral degree or possesses equivalent scientific competence.
The scientific and pedagogical competence must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.
To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are hired but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training during employment within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of study.
In addition to the requirements established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, the following eligibility requirements apply for this position: A doctoral degree in Swedish as a Second Language or equivalent subjects. Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish at the level required to perform regular duties in teaching and administration.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria include the degree of skill required for the position, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well.
In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special weight will be given to the following for this position: Experience in thesis supervision.
In a comprehensive assessment of suitability, personal qualities are also taken into account. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.
