About the Role

If you are a newly graduated teacher, mentoring is included during your first year. If you are studying to become a teacher, there are also good opportunities to combine work with studies. As a teacher in Karlskoga Municipality schools, you have the opportunity to continue your professional development and advance your career. Job Responsibilities

Do you want to try working in a school setting while gaining valuable knowledge and experience from working life? Then this might be for you!

We are now looking for flexible and responsible substitute teachers for our preschool classes, schools grades 1-6, and after-school centers. You specify in your application which activities you are interested in working in.

Working as a substitute teacher means replacing permanent staff during absences. Work takes place Monday–Friday. Working hours vary; it can be a few hours per day, a full day, or longer periods according to the schedule. Often, you are expected to be able to step in with short notice.

If you are employed as a substitute teacher, you decide yourself which days and times you are available for work. The more available you are, the greater the chance of getting work.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for you who have the right education for the assignments.

• For work in preschool classes/after-school centers, we are looking for you who are educated as preschool teachers, after-school teachers, or childcare workers (Child and Youth program or equivalent).
• For work in school grades 1–6, we are looking for you who are educated as teachers.

If you do not have the right education as described above but wish to "try out" work in a school, you are given the opportunity to do so for a limited period (300 days). This requires that you have passed high school grades in core subjects (Swedish, Math, English, Social Studies) as well as good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.

The work requires that you are responsible, flexible, and have a good attitude towards both students and colleagues.

Employment Terms

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 11 days – 3 months.

Police Record Check

To work in preschools, schools, and youth and leisure activities, you must, according to the Act on Register Checks, provide a certificate of good conduct from the police. You must request the extract yourself from the National Police Board using the form "Extract from the Criminal Record Register" available in the form archive on the police website.
