Within the Department of Education and Labour Market, we have preschool, primary school, adapted primary school, upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, reception unit for newly arrived pupils, municipal activity responsibility, adult education, cultural school, technical school, central child and student health services, labour market unit, and Campus for higher studies.

Valla is a pleasant suburb only a 10-minute commute from Katrineholm. In the community, there is a preschool to year 6 school with an associated after-school centre where approximately 30 educators work with just over 200 pupils. The school offers functional premises that support the development of the pupils' subject knowledge. In addition to classrooms and group rooms, the school has a home economics room, a music room, a science room, two craft rooms, a large library, and two sports halls. The pleasant outdoor environment encourages play and community.

This autumn, the after-school centre will have access to its own entirely separate premises, which from the autumn term 2026 will not be shared with school operations. All our classrooms and after-school centre activities are equipped with Smartboards. Staff have access to a Mac computer/iPad and a dedicated work phone.

Through close collaboration between educators and school management, the school actively works to improve the quality of teaching. We have an approach where we see everyone's differences as a resource, and where safety, motivation, and joy are fundamental values at our school.

Job Description

As a primary school teacher for the after-school centre, you help create a safe, developmental, and inspiring whole for the pupils' entire school day. Together with your colleagues, you plan and lead the teaching in the after-school centre based on the goals of the curriculum and shape learning environments that promote curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and a desire to learn. In the work team, you develop varied activities within areas such as creativity, movement, play, and outdoor pedagogy.

During the school day, you will work as a teacher resource in the classroom and contribute to creating a safe, structured, and accessible learning environment for the pupils. You support pupils both individually and in groups, in close collaboration with the responsible teacher, and are involved in adapting the teaching based on the pupils' needs and prerequisites.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has education as a primary school teacher for after-school centres/preschool class. Teacher certification is a requirement, and experience is desirable. You have good knowledge of the after-school centre's mission based on the curriculum and other regulatory documents.
