We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on wire drawing, for a fixed-term position of 5–6 years at the Department of Science and Technology.
Subject Area
The subject area for the position is: Mechanical Engineering.
Background
Mechanical Engineering is one of six research units within the Department of Science and Technology at Örebro University. The subject is in a strong phase of development and expansion, and this position offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to become part of this growth.
Currently, the unit consists of two research groups: Mechanics and Materials (M&M) and Digitalized Development and Operation of Sustainable Products and Production Systems (DPPD). The subject is responsible for four engineering programs (three at undergraduate level and one at advanced level).
We are now seeking a highly motivated Senior Lecturer who wishes to join the M&M group and contribute to further strengthening and developing high-quality education and research in the field, with a specific focus on wire drawing.
The appointed person will conduct research within wire drawing and, more generally, contribute to strengthening the work of supporting research and education, in collaboration with colleagues within mechanical engineering.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Lecturer, you will develop your independence as a researcher and gain merit both scientifically and pedagogically during the employment period to meet the requirements for eligibility for a position as a University Lecturer.
The duties consist of research, education at all levels, and collaboration. The position as a Senior Lecturer is primarily focused on scientific merit (50% of the employment period), with the remaining time primarily focused on pedagogical merit. The duties also include contributing to the university's development. This position also offers the opportunity to supervise a PhD student within the field of wire drawing.
Teaching assignments may cover specialized areas within mechanical engineering such as manufacturing technology, forming technology, and design technology. Teaching will also take place in commissioned courses within wire drawing.
Research duties include the development of methods and models, as well as planning and conducting quantitative experiments to investigate and optimize the wire drawing process. The research has a clear focus on measurement technology for the wire drawing process, linking and verifying theoretical assumptions with practical experiments, both at laboratory scale and directly in industrial applications, with the goal of implementing digital monitoring systems and process control.
