We are looking for teaching assistants for fixed-term positions at the Department of Science and Technology during the autumn term of 2026.

Background

We are seeking teaching assistants who can supervise laboratory sessions for the following courses during the autumn term, within the Unit of Computer Science at the Department of Science and Technology.

Courses in Reading Period 1 (Weeks 36-44)

  • Introduction to Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics (Bachelor of Engineering Year 1)
  • Introduction to Engineering Project in Computer Engineering (Master of Engineering Year 1)
  • Computer Engineering for Master of Engineering Students (Year 3)

Courses in Reading Period 2 (Weeks 45-03)

  • Programming Techniques* (Bachelor of Engineering Year 1)
  • Real-Time Programming (Bachelor of Engineering Year 2)
  • Database Technology (Bachelor of Engineering Year 2 and Master of Engineering Year 2)
  • Digital Electronics (Bachelor of Engineering Year 2)
  • Programming of Distributed Systems (Bachelor of Engineering Year 2)
  • Basic Programming (Python programming, Master of Engineering in Industrial Economics Year 1 and Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering Year 3)
  • Imperative Programming for Master of Engineering Students (Year 1)

*The course Programming Techniques continues during Reading Period 3 (Spring Term 2027), with the sub-course Object-Oriented Programming. It is desirable that the same teaching assistant handles a lab group throughout the entire course (Week 45 2026 - Week 16 2027).

Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant, you will supervise scheduled laboratory sessions. This includes helping students handle relevant tools and methods, guiding them in solving laboratory assignments, grading submitted labs, and reporting to the course coordinator.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to a first-cycle or second-cycle programme. Additionally, we prefer that you have studied computer engineering and that you are approved for the course you will be teaching or an equivalent course.

We are looking for someone who has shown an interest in educational and student issues during their studies. We place emphasis on personal qualities such as the ability to work independently, good teamwork skills, a service-oriented attitude, and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Information

The employment covers 4–50%, depending on the number of groups and teaching hours, for a duration of 2–8 months. Salary is paid in accordance with the local collective agreement.

Teaching assistants may be employed for a maximum of one year at a time. The total employment period for a teaching assistant may not exceed three years.
