Höglandsförbundet is a municipal association formed by the municipalities of Aneby, Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. These five municipalities, located on the Småland highlands, value collaboration and know that we become stronger together. By combining our strengths and resources, we can increase competence, utilize resources more efficiently, improve quality, and provide better services to residents. Today, we host a number of different operations working for the benefit of the entire High Region.

Within Höglandsförbundet, there is also Höglandets utbildningssamverkan (The High Region's Educational Cooperation), which currently consists of Höglandsgymnasiet with schools in Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. In total, we have approximately 550 employees working to ensure that our approximately 3,000 students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the future in the working life or in further studies. In the summer of 2026, Höglandets vuxenutbildningar (The High Region's Adult Education) will also join, located in Sävsjö, Eksjö, and Nässjö.

Your new job

We are looking for a social pedagogue for the IM program at Eksjö Gymnasium. If needed, your resources may also be utilized in other areas of the high school.

In the role of social pedagogue, you build trusting relationships with the students and maintain regular contact with guardians to create a safe and supportive learning environment. You work closely with the students and provide support at both group and individual levels based on the students' needs. The role does not involve therapeutic work.

You work both preventively and promotively. This is done with a focus on creating safety, good relationships, and study peace. You work with motivational measures aimed at developing students' abilities related to studies and work. This may include, for example, creating good daily routines, working in a school-oriented manner, searching for internship placements, and being responsible for following up and supporting the student during the internship period. Part of the work involves planning, leading, and developing group and break activities that contribute to community and participation among students.

The assignment as a special educator also includes close collaboration with teachers, student health services, and school management to best meet the students' individual needs and conditions. The teaching within the IM program is primarily linked to the subject plans for grade 9 in compulsory school, but some students may also need instruction at a lower level or at the high school level. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to a positive school environment where students thrive, develop, and achieve their goals.

You will collaborate with both the student health team (EHT) and other teachers. The position also includes work with conflict management and harassment cases. Your assignment includes stepping in to substitute for absent staff in the IM program and supporting students in the classroom. The role also involves collaboration with external actors and authorities when needed. You actively participate in collegial meetings where you share experiences and develop your competencies together.

About you

A high school education is required. It is meritorious if you have a social pedagogical education or an education that the employer considers equivalent. We consider it meritorious if you have experience in pedagogical work. You must be able to communicate both orally and in writing in Swedish.

In the role of social pedagogue, it is required that you are self-reliant and flexible. You are skilled at building relationships with both students and colleagues, and to succeed in the position, you must have a good willingness to collaborate. In addition, you need to be proactive and clear in your role.

About our school

Eksjö Gymnasium is located in central Eksjö and currently has approximately 580 students distributed across nine different programs and an adapted high school. We provide our students with a safe study period, with good conditions for further university studies and opportunities for meaningful work after high school.

At the school, in addition to educators, several key personnel work with the common goal that all students feel well, are safe, and succeed in their schoolwork.

Good to know

The position is a fixed-term employment at 100% between August and June. There may be an opportunity for extension afterwards. You will be employed as a holiday relief employee.

As a final candidate in the recruitment process, it is a requirement, in accordance with the Education Act, that you present an extract from the criminal record register for work within schools. You request this extract on the police website.

If you are called for an interview, you must be able to prove your citizenship. You do this by presenting a valid passport or a certificate of personal status together with a valid ID document. A certificate of personal status is ordered from the Tax Agency under "My Pages." If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, you must also be able to present a valid residence and/or work permit to work in Sweden. Employment can only take place after the work permit has been checked, in accordance with the Aliens Ordinance.
