About the unit

The Air Maintenance Unit is the unit that handles preventive and corrective maintenance on our Gripen aircraft, as well as all the maintenance equipment associated with the aircraft. We also handle the daily flight service with arming and readiness maintenance.

Our tasks are primarily directed nationally, but international assignments may also occur. The Air Maintenance Unit consists of a unit command, the 11th and 12th Air Maintenance Companies, and the Air Workshop.

The Ammunition and Base Material Platoon is one of three platoons that make up an air maintenance company. The company's main purpose is arming, maintenance, and ammunition service for the JAS 39 Gripen aircraft system.

Main tasks

As the commander of the ammunition and base material platoon, you lead and shape the ammunition and base material capability at the air maintenance company. You work with a mix of civilians, specialist officers, soldiers, and conscripts. Your tasks are primarily to plan, develop, and train your personnel, and together with fellow platoon commanders, plan for and solve operations, exercises, and wartime unit development through long-term planning.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Completed officer or specialist officer education (OF 1/SO 6 or higher)
• Completed upper secondary education
• Category B driver's license for manual transmission

Personal qualities

The platoon commander role will involve that you have an easy time collaborating with others. Good ability to analyze and manage risk is also of great importance within air maintenance. Sensitivity in leadership towards the platoon is also a great strength, as many employees bring with them a lot of prior experience.

MERITORIOUS

• Degree in or previous experience from technical or logistical service
• Experience of managerial positions within the Swedish Armed Forces
• Previous experience with JAS 39 Gripen
• Experience of working in support systems PRIO and Excel

The position entails requirements for physical and mental fitness. Travel in the service occurs for both work and own education.

Since both the position and tasks are linked to a wartime organization, you will also be assigned to wartime duties in our organization. This means among other things that you will receive training in what is expected of you at a heightened state of readiness.

Skaraborg Wing is a versatile and unique air wing. Here you will find combat aircraft as well as the Swedish Armed Forces' combined resource of transport and special aircraft. We conduct basic and position training for conscript recruits and train all Swedish and foreign Gripen pilots. The unit also participates in many operations. In Sweden, the operations are located in Såtenäs, Malmen, Arlanda, and Karlsborg. Abroad, we are responsible for Gripen support in Thailand and for the Swedish personnel at the international transport air cooperation Heavy Airlift Wing in Hungary.
