The Education Division has over 1,900 employees, and together we work to provide children, young people, and adults with a good education. We are responsible for, among other things, 31 preschools, 17 primary schools, adapted primary schools, Nyköping Upper Secondary School, adapted upper secondary schools, as well as adult education at Campus Nyköping.

About Nyköping Upper Secondary School Alpha

We have two separate school buildings, Alpha and Omega, with around 450–500 students each. Each unit has a school library, student health services, and all special classrooms for science, home economics, music, and crafts. Job Responsibilities

In the role of Student Assistant, you play a crucial part in a student's schooling. Your focus is to create a safe, structured, and developmental environment where the student gets the best possible conditions to manage their daily life.

Your main tasks include:

• Providing support throughout the school day: You act as a consistent thread and a safe point for the student during lessons, breaks, and other activities.
• Supporting social interactions: You guide and support the student in social interactions with classmates and adults to promote inclusion, communication, and secure relationships.
• Assisting with practical needs: You support the student with personal and practical moments in daily life, which includes help with toilet visits and hygiene.
• Maintaining close contact with the home: You have a close and ongoing collaboration with the student's guardians to ensure good information transfer and create a secure whole around the student.

You work in close consultation with the class teacher and other pedagogical staff to meet the student's specific needs in the best possible way.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position:

• Trained Treatment Pedagogue: You have a completed and certified education as a treatment pedagogue (or another adequate pedagogical/behavioral science education that the employer deems equivalent).
• Competence in MI (Motivational Interviewing): You have documented training in or good practical experience with MI (Motivational Interviewing) and use it unhesitatingly as a tool in your daily work.

Personal qualities:

Since the role involves close and intensive support, we place great emphasis on your personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is secure, patient, and has high empathy. You are skilled at building trusting relationships with the student, colleagues, and guardians, and you maintain your calm and pedagogical focus even in challenging situations.
