Job Description

The Department of Statistics is advertising a doctoral student position in statistics. The dissertation topic will be determined during the first semester by the doctoral student and supervisors, in consultation with the director of studies for the doctoral education. The final project will take into account the candidate's academic background and research interests as well as the department's research profile.

Doctoral students mainly devote their time to completing coursework and writing a doctoral thesis. Employment as a doctoral student is granted on an annual basis, and the total employment period must not exceed four years of full-time studies. Departmental duties, i.e., teaching, administration, or research not directly related to the dissertation topic, may comprise at most 20 percent of full-time work. When such departmental duties are performed, the employment period is extended accordingly.
