As a special needs teacher in mathematics, you will become an important part of our school social team within the Child and Student Support Unit in Eslöv Municipality. Together, we work to strengthen school attendance, motivation, and hope for the future among students in grades 4-9.

The position is a fixed-term project appointment for one year, focusing on further developing and strengthening the work on increased school attendance.

Your assignment
  • Teach students in various subjects, individually or in small groups
  • Identify students' strengths, needs, and prerequisites for learning
  • Adapt teaching to create motivation, security, and accessibility
  • Contribute to breaking social isolation and strengthening the student's connection to school
  • Support the return to the home school through planning and collaboration
  • Guide educators regarding adaptations
  • Collaborate closely with guardians, student health services, and other professions
  • Participate in the development of the team's work and interventions for increased school attendance
Your experience

We are looking for you who have both special needs pedagogical competence and a strong commitment to students in need of support. You are confident in your role as a teacher and have the ability to meet students based on their individual situations and needs.

  • Licensed teacher with qualifications in mathematics for grades 4-9
  • Trained special needs teacher or equivalent special pedagogical competence
  • Experience working with students in need of special support
  • Good didactic competence in mathematics and experience in adapting teaching

Merits if you have:

  • Experience collaborating with student health services, guardians, and other actors
  • Experience with school absenteeism, NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders), or mental health issues
  • Accustomed to working both independently and in interdisciplinary teams

How we work

The school social team works to strengthen school attendance and create sustainable solutions for students in grades 4-9 with problematic school absenteeism. By combining pedagogical, social, and psychological interventions, we meet the students' needs from a holistic perspective.

Our interventions primarily take two forms:

SU Group (8 weeks) For students with extensive or total school absenteeism, focusing on:

  • Identifying the student's pedagogical, social, and health-related needs
  • Offering individualized teaching
  • Rebuilding school structure, motivation, and security

Intervention towards the home school (approx. 12 weeks) For students with partial school attendance, focusing on:

  • Strengthening motivation and increasing attendance
  • Providing support to teachers and student health services
  • Collaborating closely with guardians and the home school

The work is always carried out based on an individual plan and in close collaboration with the student, guardians, home school, and other actors around the student.

The team consists of several professions, including school psychologists, special needs teachers/pedagogues, subject teachers, and family therapists. Together, we contribute:

  • Pedagogical competence
  • Social work
  • Psychological knowledge

Through close collaboration and a shared holistic view, we work to create long-term conditions for students' learning, security, and well-being.
