Malmö Restaurant School (Komvux) is looking for an engaged vocational teacher for the Restaurant and Food program. This is a fixed-term position at 100% from 2026-08-01 to 2027-06-30. Work with us and contribute to the future of Malmö residents and society.

Responsibilities

As a vocational teacher, you work to ensure that students develop their full potential – both academically and socially. You support, motivate, and stimulate each student to meet the knowledge requirements based on their prerequisites, preparing them for their upcoming professional roles. Your work includes planning, teaching, and assessment, as well as evaluating and developing the pedagogical operations in accordance with the school's governing documents.

Together with colleagues, you work to create a good learning and working environment for both students and staff. You also contribute to the school's quality and development work.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for you who are a certified vocational teacher and qualified to teach core subjects within the restaurant and food sector. We also welcome applicants with chef training. The position also requires:

• Several years of professional experience in restaurants and kitchens, along with very good subject-specific knowledge.
• Experience in supervising chef students in restaurant kitchens/large-scale kitchens.
• Experience working in cold kitchens, hot kitchens, and/or large-scale kitchens.
• Experience with drink knowledge, alcohol legislation, food and drink pairing, and/or service.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for communication and pedagogy.
• Very good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience supervising chef students whose native language is not Swedish.
• Experience working with beverages, for example as a bartender, head waiter, sommelier, or barista.

We are looking for you who are confident in the role of a vocational teacher and who create good conditions for students' learning and development. You adapt teaching to the students' and group's prerequisites and prior knowledge through a creative approach and strong pedagogical skills. Your working style is characterized by good structure, and you prioritize and organize tasks efficiently. Furthermore, you contribute to good collaborations and communicate openly, clearly, and listen attentively to your surroundings.

About the Workplace

Komvux, Malmö Restaurant School offers vocational packages with a focus on bakery, confectionery, restaurant, large-scale kitchen, service, as well as café and delicatessen. There are just over 130 students enrolled in these programs. As part of the teaching, the school also runs a student cafeteria, restaurant, confectionery, and a lunch shop known as "Take Away".
