The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences operates at Campus Östersund and Campus Sundsvall. The department covers research and education in history, literary studies, English linguistics, Southern Sami, the Swedish language, Swedish as a second language, gender studies, criminology, sociology, and political science.
Job Description
The position involves working with and being responsible for the technology in the Risk and Crisis Research Centre’s (RCR) simulation lab (www.miun.se/rcrlab), as well as participating in the creative production and development work in the environment.
A creative media developer with technical responsibility shall be the main technical support in various projects and for the operations in general at RCR's simulation lab. This includes, among other things:
- creating static and motion graphics, filming and editing 360-degree films, and producing virtual environments
- programming and controlling the technology (sound, light, image, smoke, etc.) in the lab using the show-control software QLab
- operating, maintaining, adjusting, and updating the technology in RCR's simulation lab, as well as troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues
- creating and maintaining data files in a well-organized and information-secure manner
The more creatively oriented tasks mainly involve defining and producing relevant simulation material, such as graphics, 360-degree films, surround sound, VR environments, lighting design, etc., both individually and in collaboration with various users.
Other tasks include:
- creating and revising user-friendly instructions, guides, and similar materials for different target groups and users
- maintaining, preparing, and finalizing premises and technology for various users in RCR's simulation lab
- planning and conducting study visits, demonstrations, and similar activities in the environment.
Your Background
The successful candidate for the Creative Media Developer position must have relevant education and several years of technical and creative experience (at least 5 years) from stage and/or audiovisual production or similar fields. Examples of previous work tasks and completed projects must be attached to the application. The position involves a wide variety of tasks and collaborations. You must therefore be able to work flexibly both independently and in a team, have a good ability to initiate, plan, and carry out activities, and be able to communicate well verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
In addition to the above requirements, the following are particularly meritorious:
- documented competence in sound, film, and image editing
- programming competence in Unity, XVR, or similar programs for creating video games or interactive 3D environments
- experience with programming and operation of the show-control system QLab
Furthermore, the following are meritorious:
- previous work in comparable projects or operations, especially within research and academia
- education in social or behavioral sciences
Employment and Start Date
The employment is a full-time fixed-term appointment during the absence of the permanent employee, starting from 2026-09-01 or as agreed, but no later than 2027-02-28.
