About American High School, Uppsala

The school is centrally located in the Luthagen area. In the autumn, the school will begin its fifth academic year and will have approximately 220 students studying on the Natural Science, Social Science, or Business and Administration programs. Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish by a competent teaching staff with a strong sense of community.

About the Role

As a teacher, you will teach our students in one or more of the following subjects: Mathematics, Natural Science, and Biology. We are also currently looking for teachers in English, Social Studies, Religion, and History. If you are interested in teaching multiple subjects, please specify this in your application.

You will be responsible for planning, implementing, assessing, and evaluating your own teaching. You are expected to lead lessons according to our pedagogical structure, for which you will receive guidance. You will work closely with an engaged and cohesive teaching team, where collaboration and collegial learning are a natural part of daily life. You will teach in a digital environment using digital learning materials in combination with traditional literature. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English.

The position also includes class mentorship.

The position is a permanent part-time or full-time employment with an initial 6-month probationary period. The extent depends on which subject or subjects you are qualified to teach. Start date: August 3, 2026.

Your Profile

The position requires a Swedish teaching license, as well as qualifications to teach Mathematics, Natural Science, and/or Biology at the upper secondary level. Experience in upper secondary teaching is also highly meritorious. You have a strong commitment to teaching and wish to develop the operations together with a strong team of colleagues, and you share our pedagogical view:

You are expected to have good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. You have the ability to use a broad spectrum of digital learning materials and possess stable digital competence.
